ralphwiggum 6 Posted July 13, 2002 When I turn my PC on, with OFPR CD in CD drive, CD drive makes this humming noise. IT's NOT a regular humming noise, and I have no problem with other CDs except OFPR. This humming noise sounds llike leafblower from long distance. Any suggestions? p.s. I noticed that there is a brown line at the edge of OFPR disk, and one part is not correct. seems like there a misalignment. EDIT: not only during boot-up, but also when I pop OFPR in the drive
bn880 5 Posted July 13, 2002 It's a feature, CD built in jet noise. Not sure, I would expect this to happen when safedisk is using up your CD Drive, but you say u just boot up. It's trying to get the file/directory structure off the CD I think. Maybe something is wrong with your CD. U should have a backup.... if possible.
BoonieRat 0 Posted July 14, 2002 Does the CD work OK?. Does it 'Auto~Start' OK?,first time?.or does it take longer than normal to read and startup the OFP CD, than other CD's?... I sometimes get a whineing noise while the CD drive repeatedly tries to read a damaged/scratchted CD. but if its playing OK first time it should'nt be that. ALDEGA 0 Posted July 14, 2002 The safedisk copy protection uses hard-to-read space on the cdrom. That's why your drive acts like that. It's normal.
