Mister Frag 0 Posted July 10, 2002 I just saw the review of the ECS AG400 SiS Xabre 400 on VR-Zone, and it looks like another company has taken the irresponsible step of exposing transparency inside their video drivers. This, of course, leads to massive cheating: A sample image is at http://www.vr-zone.com/reviews/ECS/AG400/Transparent.jpg This is no doubt the most controversial setting where you have the ability to see through walls in games like Quake III and Counterstrike and many others. I don't have much comments on this but many game servers admins will not be too happy to see this feature especially cheat detection software is unable to track and cheaters might just buy this card and abuse this feature. The full review can be found HERE. (Edited to remove the large image -- the moderators would have spanked me!
Guest Posted July 10, 2002 Once upon a time ASUS had the same option with their drivers. Wisely they chose to remove it. Edit: One spanking coming up
EveronVetsAgainstTheWar 1 Posted July 10, 2002 Well good thing I dont play games like Quake and Counterstrike! But seriously that is totally irresponsible of the video card company.
Mister Frag 0 Posted July 10, 2002 The reviewers used Quake and Counterstrike as examples, but apparently it can be used in OFP as well.
Tex -USMC- 0 Posted July 10, 2002 Oh shit. Who in the hell makes this stuff up, and says, "this is a good idea!"?
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted July 10, 2002 What is the big great deal about cheating? I dont get why people cheat? You run around and kill everyone (without really seing the faces of the people loosing) and you yourself know that you are not a great performer but simply cheater. I mean the human nature is to beat others, and get the acknowledgement. You cheat either to get money of the accreditation. But in a silly PC game you get no damm credit for being a good player. I HATE CHEATERS, not because they win, just because they got no brain to understand...

Renagade 0 Posted July 11, 2002 Some "cheats" are actually userful sometimes like the old CS speedhack. It was actually useful in altering the speed of which prgrams ran to speed up stuff or to slow them down for easier observation
WKK Gimbal 0 Posted July 11, 2002 Any technology that can improve game graphics is welcomed by me. I think multiplayer is screwed anyway - don't care about it unless it's with good friends on a closed server (and they wouldn't cheat in any case, as they're all older than 9)
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted July 11, 2002 Improving graphical performance is not cheating though
EveronVetsAgainstTheWar 1 Posted July 11, 2002 I get the urge to download counter strike hacks quite often. Just because I hate the counter strike community that much. I want to ruin their pitiful lives. But I don't because I play DoD and dont want people to get to thinking I cheat in a game like DoD which I love.
