Modelling question

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Hopefully I've posted this in the right place.

So I've been working on a half track 3ds max.I wanted to ask when I export it to import it into O2 do I keep the machine gun as a separate object?

or do i attach it so it's all into one object? I hope I've explained it clear enough any help would be great

Thanks.

each movable part as a separate object would be advisable

What do you mean by object?

Also I'm not sure if the tank class has steerable wheel animation controllers, and I'm not sure of the truck class has tank tread animations. It will be interesting to see how this works.

it won't work, there is engine limitation, you won't make halftrack

A halftrack was just an example i wanted to use....a bad example :P so lets say I have a normal truck

with a MG mounted on the top of the roof before I export it should I whats known it 3ds max as "detach" the weapon

and then export or should I export all part as one model?

Hopefully I've explained it clear enough

It's very easy to make a subobject its own named selection in o2 (which you will have to do to make it animated), so it's a 6 of one, half dozen of another. You either have to make it its own object in max and name it, or do so in o2. The important thing that it does not share any vertices with anything you don't want to animate.
