Trobule with frame rate on the mod DayZ(and Arma 2)?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have an iMac and I am running Windows 7 on my mac via parallels(bootcamp refuses to work). I know macs aren't gaming computers to any extent(and trust me, I would rather have a pc right now) but this is what I'm stuck with for the time being.

Specs:

2.5 Ghz intel quad core i5

8 GB of ram(only 4 GB for my windows partition)

AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1 GB

DayZ is a great mod on the Arma 2 engine and is extremely fun, when there isn't tons of lag. However, as the game has been updated, the lag has gotten lesser and lesser but is still not optimal for me. It seems that my computer lags most times I zoom in, look around extremely fast, aim, or head into a big city like Elektro.

I have 2 theories. The minimum requirement for RAM for DayZ is 4GB which is what I have on my windows partition. With the holiday season coming up, I have been thinking about upgrading to 16 GB of RAM. Then, I could put 8GB of RAM on my windows partition. My other idea would be internet speed. My internet speed has been horrible and I have read that that contributes to a large portion of lag to even people with great computers. If I were to change my internet provider to a faster one, couldn't that stop some of the lag? Would either of these ideas stop any lag? If not what am I able to do that would?

Thank you

I think it may be partly your 6750 card that is causing your problem and also the 2.5ghz. Regards the card, it’s a good enough card, but for Arma 2 its probably a little too weak. Just imo..

There are a few tweaks that you could try but it would be better if you put up your game settings (screenshot), then some may be able to give hints etc..

DayZ has a lot more terrains/maps available now some arid/desert style that may play better for you (less clutter), also there are some mods you could try i.e. ‘sap_clutter’, ‘landtex’, ‘summer_veg’, there are others, but these would be down to 'if you can use them on server', you would have to check what mods they run..

Anyhow put up your settings, it’s a start..:)

DayZ related issues belongs to the DayZ forums:

§8) Post in the right forum & right thread

Please ensure you make new threads in the correct forum, if you're unsure of which forum to post in feel free to ask a moderator. If a thread exists for the topic you wish to post about you must use it, for example all ACE questions belong in the ACE thread. All addon/mod questions belong in the thread for that addon/mod. In the case of DayZ discussions they should be posted on the DayZ forums, this includes problems with the Modification. The troubleshooting forum is not for problems with Addons and Mods!
