-Gews- 1 Posted December 1, 2012 How do I calculate the caliber setting? I looked it up and found an old thread and a page on the wiki, but I still don't understand how it works. I am trying to calculate it for entirely new rounds so I cannot use the values for standard ArmA ammunition. For example cartridges like .25 ACP or 4.6x30mm? .kju 3245 Posted December 1, 2012 its based on penetration capability. best make a table of the existing values for BI ammo and derive your new values from there.
eggbeast 3685 Posted December 1, 2012 so does it only affect armour piercing capability? i've been wondering the same for our HEI/AP M2 rounds
-Gews- 1 Posted December 2, 2012 Hmmm, going by the BI wiki it seems it's calculated from real-world figures...? It's a bit confusing, since, for example, a 5,56 round will go through a ballistic vest easily but does not fare so well on secondary cover due to the light pointed bullet, while, say, a flatnose 45-70 round would be stopped by the same ballistic vest but would go through walls and animals more easily.
