Tex -USMC- 0 Posted July 4, 2002 Have no fear, I found a place with speeds like Fileplanet, but minus waiting. Go to this URL and choose the Peer 2 Peer option. It may ask you to d/l something, but I cant remember. But it is giving me 181 kb/sec. I will be sure to report in as to whether its a legitimate game or a crass propaganda tool, or both. Tex -USMC- 0 Posted July 4, 2002 No, this site is legit, Ive used it before. Trust me, its okay, you wont get a virus. What I meant was just one of those spyware type progs that uses a little bit of your bandwidth when you arent looking, to supply the extra bandwidth. Also, I just went through the rifle range to kill time until I can actually log on (midnight PST), and it is incredibly easy to qual as a marksmen, but it takes some care and luck to qual as sharpshooter or expert, as the amount of shots needed to knock a target down seems to vary no matter where you aim. Oh well. I do like the iron sight view of the M16, but its not a huge improvement over OFPs iron sight. Also, muzzle flash doesnt seem to show up in the iron sights, and tell the truth, the flashes dont look too good, considering the hype this engine has been given. The environments are pretty big (bigger than Ghost Recon), but there are borders, so OFP has nothing to fear. Thats as far as I go until the game goes live, so until then, Im gonna try and get Expert. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

ralphwiggum 6 Posted July 4, 2002 you really don't need to install spyware to spy with this kinda stuff. all you need is servers that can collect data. and from what i heard is that all servers are maintained by US army. so only thing they have to do is save the log and analyze it. that way, they can know who is good and who is not. another way would be is to let the spyware algorithm to be invoked only if network connection is present. for example, let's say you start the game, and decide to play online during sometime. then when you start playing MP, that's when spyware could kick in and send data. just a short burst of data would be no problem, and if the data is sentout during MP, then it would be hard to catch that small packets. fraggit 0 Posted July 4, 2002 Is anyone else having mouse lag? I can move around just find but when I move the mouse it's like I'm playing on a 28k modem. I've failed that marksmen thing 8 times now because I can't even get the mouse to the target on time..... BTW I'm playing on low textures on a AMD Athalon 850 MHZ. Is that too low?
