BoonieRat 0 Posted July 3, 2002 I just installed Resistance and I'm now getting frequent random crashes. to desktop mostly, (which is a bit of a novelty for me cause I usualy get hardlock's if I got probs'. beats havin' to reboot and Scandisc i 'spose... ). I've only tried the original OFP single missions so far. I got a hardlock on the menu~screen as well. I'll try and upgrade to 1.4# to see if there are any pbo. errors or whatnot, but it was running fine before. Now i 'spose you want all the usual specs. before someone says "post your specs and we might help" and never replys again!!. BoonieRat 0 Posted July 3, 2002 ***************UPDATE******************** I've tried completley uninstalling (and deleteing the Codemasters folder after) and reinstalling twice now. each time i get crashes to desktop very frequently, or hard~locks if playing a single mission that includes flying a 'copter!. I tried playing the original OFP updated to ver#1.46 before installing Resistance the second time, and it played fine. as soon as i installed Resistance i got a hardlock within 1min of starting the first single  heli~mission,(Rats Nest?). Is there an installment checker out yet for Resistance?. I also noticed that the hellfire missiles dont hit and destroy their targets. they seem to hit the lengh of a tank/BMP away from whatever you aim at. Anyone else noticed/had this?... *****************UPDATE~ENDS*************
BoonieRat 0 Posted July 3, 2002 Conservative~Cacheman, 16mb~min 199mbmax. usual 70-80mb.
Placebo 31 Posted July 3, 2002 Swapfile setting? Saying "cacheman conservative" means nothing to me. Try increasing it.
BoonieRat 0 Posted July 3, 2002 above ^ . I've never had any 'out of memory' messages or the like. and OFP was fine, still is as long as i dont install Resistance
BoonieRat 0 Posted July 3, 2002 The above is the disk cache. swapfile is virtual memory yes?. and virtual memory is basicly the disc~cache dumped onto the hard drive cause its run out of disc cache space. is'nt it?. conservative means: i have no virtual memory usage. if theres enough RAM it does'nt need to write it to the harddrive, and i've never had my disc cache go above the 70-80mb mark. Hell!, I've never seen my total RAM usage go above 300!...
Placebo 31 Posted July 3, 2002 Read through the forum, people are reporting massive increases in Ram usage with Opf:R, also reports of Opf:R ctd'ing, then no longer ctd'ing when swapfile was increased. It all seems terrain dependant, higher you go the more ram it uses, what you running it on now? Start conservative like low or normal and work your way up. BoonieRat 0 Posted July 4, 2002 It crashes on normal.
BoonieRat 0 Posted July 4, 2002 Can you explain what you mean by 'swapfile'?... do you mean virtual memory?, the disc cache?...
