BoonieRat 0 Posted July 2, 2002 How come the far~off footstep bug has never been fixed?. it makes the black op missions damn~near unplayable. slight exageration i know, but it is bloody anoying. you can't judge how close to you they are. you constantly stop and search for enemys that are the other side of a mountain!. can anything be done my end?. I've tried the EAX settings.ect. is there a config that affects the soound threshold?, or something?. i dont mind digging through the files if i can cure this!. Has Resistance got the same bug too?...
hugo2020 0 Posted July 2, 2002 no, at RES its fixed!
Placebo 31 Posted July 2, 2002 IIRC the problem is with EAX not with Opf.
BoonieRat 0 Posted July 2, 2002 IIRC?, what ist?... If it's EAX, then why does it do it when EAX is disabled?, or not manifest itself in other games?. are you saying it can't be fixed?. by BIS?. if so why hav'nt Creative fixed it?.is it Creative sound cards only with the fault?. do they recognise the fault as their own?. or do they blame BIS?... Hugo!, did you have the problem with OFP then?, before Resistance?..., if you did, and its gone, would'nt that point a finger at BIS rather than EAX or Creative?... Or have you changed sound cards or OS's to XP since then?. cause i know there have been new XP drivers for the 5.1, but no win98 ones since OFP was launched. Sorry for the thousand questions but this issue has been around long enough for SOMEONE!! to have owned up and fixed it!!. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">

Placebo 31 Posted July 2, 2002 IIRC = If I remember correctly I guess I really haven't followed the footstep bug all that closely as it doesn't seem to affect me, I have a SB Live Value and things seem to work as they should In Resistance Bis have made changes which sort of fix it I belive, something along the lines of "well creative have done bugger all so we'll fix it as best we can"
Mister Frag 0 Posted July 2, 2002 Suma explained in another thread that the problem was with Creative's non-compliant implementation of sound ramping. It doesn't appear to be EAX-specific, it appears to be more of a DirectSound problem.

Mister Frag 0 Posted July 2, 2002 Another buggy implementation of sound ramping, perhaps?
