Whoa... I didn't know that there were this much BS's in the OFP community...

Here... imagine you making series of new addons and an island and better netcodes and enhanced AI and (blah blah).

If I was BIS, I wouldn't simply give it away for goodness' sake.

Just understand how hard it is to make even 1 addon.

I can see all of the "Resistance=futile" believer's point of view if one of them would make these for free.

1) a new netcode - Nah...

2) bunch of new units with descent tex - Nooo, it can't be a retextured model

3) a new campaign - Please, not one of those where you can finish it by saying "All, Danger. . . All Engage at will"

4) a new island - No, don't make Mt. Bald - add trees too.

The fact is when I purchased OFP back in 2001 it wasnt ready. Now they are SELLING the new Game code.

I have heard nothing of a free patch .. have you ? All I see is 3 diff versions in the horizon. 1.46 , 1.60beta and now, 1.7x.

If you inform yerself as to reading the previous posts, you will see that the NEW code doesnt touch the existing code. What does this mean to you TEX ?<span id='postcolor'>

something tells me that you are one of those ppl who think what you think should be added is the only correct one.

back in initial relase, there were problems, and tons of them. but most are dealt with right now.

and speaking of patches, BIS never really announces then until it is out. so should BIS say that "we will have patches for OFPR in a few weeks" ?

acutly if you where in the MPTEST form the topic of the patch has come up quite some time ago and if i reamber correctly Suma said there would be No patch befor Resistance. and sence the MP beta test is set up for the origonal 1.46 there will most likly going to be a patch for this soon after Resistance so all OFP players can play. BIS wouldnt spetrate the 2 games.

Bullshit. Yeah the game was buggy back then. So? theyve patched it up to the Nth degree. 1.46 is lightyears beyond 1.00, and guess what? You didnt have to pay one red cent from 1.00 all the way to 1.60 beta, with official addons and other goodies along the way. And hell, most people only paid 40 US dollars for it! This in a time when shitty games like Motor City Online go for 60 US dollars. I think Ive gotten my moneys worth. Plus a whole lot more. And now BIS is giving us all this other good shit, but the second you see a price tag you clam up. That is bullshit man. Besides, its an addon, not a friggin sequel. I dont know what you are expecting, but onviously you have a very skewed idea of what OFPR will be. And I dont know why theyd want to fuck with the code. The codes just fine. But, and I repeat, THATS NOT WHAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR IN OFPR. You are paying for the new units, the new island, the new netcode, the new graphics, the new weapons, and of course the new campaign. But I guess thats not worth 30 bucks, because they didnt change a lot of code that a whole bunch of gamers seem to think is just fine

Okay, I guess we both see where the others coming from. Its just for me, the high points Ive had with OFP have generally more than made up for the lows (1.00 multiplayer... you guys remember that nightmare? lol). But then again I havent tried to maintain an OFP server.

Again, all other companies charge money for game addons and expansion packs. Resistance is an expansion pack. Why should BIS not charge for it? It's a company - companies makes money or they wither and die. It's not some aid organisation out to rescue you from boredom. If you don't think Resistance is worth the money then don't purchase it. It's that simple - there's no pressure anywhere.

If you felt the patches put you under an unbearable strain as a gamer, I'd suggest you had just stuck with version 1.00

The answer is simple. Wait until it's released, weigh up the good's and the bad's and make a decision from there. Atleast wait until it's released before you go praising/slagging the product. Reviews, comparisons, personal opinions, spam, praises, you name it will all be around a few days after Resistance is released, make your decision when you have something to refer to. For the time being there is no point in complaining about a product that hasn't even been released.

That is my plan of attack anyway, sure i'd like vastly improved graphics code, major bug tweaks and a few new extra's but will all this really give me a bang for my buck? or will it just introduce an un-noticeable graphics update with a few little bits and pieces thrown in? i guess i'll find out in a weeks time.
