Please tell me that this isn't the exact pelican prop from halo 3 and that if it is, you have permission from Bungie to use their assets, because right now it is looking questionably close pixel for pixel, and seeing as you are aware of GMOD, bolsters this concern. If you have permission then I 'm sure someone would be happy to help, if you don't then you may find many of us to be apprehensive.

You model all in tris? Interesting. What is the advantage of modelling in all tris? I would like to know more about your workflow. Your model looks very professional.

The main advantage is flexibility, it also really gives a professional look to your models. Its also a lot easier for me personally. Unfortunately its a lot more time consuming and it makes unwrapping a real pain in the ass.... (at times)

Can I see your UV layout? I'm trying not to have so much wasted space in mine, and I'd love to see what yours is like. Nice work so far. Also, I'll help you put it into the game...check out my Star Trek thread to see the work I've done on the shuttle.

I validated your post. Can you go into more detail, pl0x?

What is it exactly you want to know? What i mean by flexibility is you have many more shapes you can pull of with triangulated mesh's (at a low poly count) You can pull of highly complex shapes with low poly counts and make it look good.

Wow. Looking at your model, it doesn't look like that is really being put into practice much. It looks like all quad forms but for some reason you triangulated them. What modelling method did you use? Extrusion modelling?

I started off with a box and 3 pictures, when i got some what of a pelican i triangulated it and keep on extruding and over the course of a few months just messing around with it i got this. After i had my model i found someones mod for another game of a pelican he done i asked for his textures and he gave me them (i didn't ask if he made them or not.) And because it was never ever going to be used i decided to try bring it to arma with the help of some mod devs.

So you're telling me you manually triangulated every face on the model, even if you weren't actually using that triangulated edge to define any form... What tool did you use to do that? The split faces tool?

Hi Daniel, aka: mepizzasmangled.

I did receive your message, and I did reply the same day, in fact. I said why don't you send me what you have, and I'll get it in game for you. You had told me that you're a modeller, animator, texture artist...yet, here you are saying someone else gave you the textures.

Anyway, like three months ago, I'm telling you that I'm willing to help out. Just let me know where I can get the source from. If you don't want my help, then that's fine...I'd still like it if you'd be kind enough to show me the UV map.

Thanks,

Abs

[i'm going to be so tired for work in the morning.]

No no no. I used a plugin for maya 2012 to triangulate my entire mesh.

Entertaining answers.

This thread is closed because of an intellectual property rights dispute.

§19) Posting addon/mod other content without permission

For many years this community has been known as the premium addon/mod creating community, people work tirelessly and in great detail to create fantastic addons/mods/missions/campaigns to release for free so that everyone benefits, including Bohemia Interactive. There are a few simple rules in place to provide the respect to these creative people/groups that they deserve:

The first and most fundamental rule is that you must seek permission to alter someone's work, to mirror it or use it in any way other than for personal use. No permission, no editing, no mirroring, no adding to your mod pack, no editing and sharing around your private squad, none of that is acceptable.

Obviously we cannot unfortunately control what people do outside of these forums, however on these forums you must follow this rule, if a person/team post a thread to share an addon/mod using content from someone else without permission and we receive a complaint then the mod thread will be closed until the issue is resolved and the forum member(s) risks being permanently banned from these forums for taking someone's work without permission.

This isn't just limited to re-using content in addons/mods/missions however, it's not acceptable to edit someone's work without permission and then to post screenshots of it on the forums (even if the edited addon/mod is purely for personal use), it's also not acceptable to edit someone's work, or use someone's work in any way that you don't have permission for and then to create videos which you post on these forums, doing any of the above without the permission of the original creators risks a permanent ban, for individuals, for whole mod teams or squads.
