Purchased Downloaded version having error message NO CD

Recommended Posts

When I try to load the game I started getting a error message "No CD in computer" or something like that. I don't have a CD as I purchased the download game from Amazon. How do I go about correcting this problem so I can play the game? Thank you.

Update the game to latest version installing Patch 1.60 and then 1.62.

I already have those two patches installed. I have had nothing but problems with this game. I have yet to complete a single player mission or a campaign mission it either locks my computer up. I must admit this is the worst PC game for problems I had ever had and I have a lot of them. I think it is a great game with outstanding graphics but what good is that when you cannot even play it. I tried to lower the video resolution but the game would not accept it. I give up on it but thanks for the reply.

So does the game run now?

From what I understood now, I guess yes.

As you complain about the computer locking up, what does your system look like? And what does your video settings look like?

Actual drivers installed?

No the game has never run for me I have reinstalled it twice (both patches were included when I reinstalled) I have tried to lower the video resolution to 1024 x 768 and other resolutions also but I keep getting the message my video card will not accept them. I have used these resolutions on many other games with no problem so I no it is not my video card. Here are my compuiter specs:

Dell XPS 700

Intel Core2 Duo processor w/DualCore technology w/2MB cache

4GB DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz

24†Wide Digital Flat Display monitor

512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX Plus Video Card

250GB hard drive

1 TB hard drive

I have the most current video driver. (296.10 32 bit)

It's unclear what exactly is going wrong now. You initially said that you can't start the game at all because it complains about a missing CD.

But now you're saying you can't change your resolution in the game and playing missions locks your computer up... so is the missing CD problem now fixed? You need to provide more detailled info if you really want help.

If you can start the game now, at what point exactly does it lock up? And does the whole computer lock up, or just the game? Have you monitored your hardware temperatures while playing?

Ok, I will try to explain what is happening. First off I purchased the downloaded version of ARMA 2 from Amazon, then I purchased (downloaded version) of ARMA2_Operation Overhead. I then installed patches to version 1.60 and 1.62. Now everytime I played the game I could never finish a mission, the game would show a black screen and it would go on until I finally turned off my computer or another time or two I started getting a condition where the screen would start getting blurry like I had the resolution too high and it would crash to desktop. I had the resolution set at 1920 x 1080 which is what my monitor says I should use for my desktop and I use for other games, no problem. Anyhow, I figured as this game obviously uses more memory with the high quality images, I would change it to 1280 x 1024 in the game options. When I restarted the game I got the message it would not accept this resolution, I tried 1024 x 768 same message as before and I could not even start the game as this message kept coming up. I reinstalled it again and when I tried to load the game I got a message "No CD was in the drive" or whatever it said. At that point I was just about ready to give up.

Again here are my computer specs:

Dell XPS 700

Intel Core2 Duo processor w/DualCore technology w/2MB cache

4GB DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz

24†Wide Digital Flat Display monitor

512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX Plus Video Card

250GB hard drive

1 TB hard drive

I have the most current video driver. (296.10 32 bit)

I hope I have made it a little bit clearer, for some reason I just cannot seem to play this game and I really enjoyed the little I was able to play until I couldn't finish a mission and just got disgusted with it all. Is there anything I am not explaining enough or what else would you suggest?

Your gpu is too weak to run at 1920 x 1080, i use 512mb 9600gt and play this game on 1280 x 1024 only. When u change the resolution, change both of the interface and resolution to the same as in pic

Set everything to off or low since your cpu is kinda old. Then when it runs at reasonable speed (you can see the animation runs smooth at your menu screen), start increasing it bit by bit. there are others that also use old system but can still enjoy this game without major lag.

If it still didn't work, you might want to check your nvidia settings, something might be set to be forced as on.

I lowered the resolution settings to 1024 x 768 and lowered some of the setting you suggested and was able to complete one mission and one campaign mission without a problem. I did have one problem in the campaign mission and that was I could only get the player I was using to crawl, when I brought him to stand or kneel and push "W" to move foreward he would go back down to crawl. I was not able to correct that until he came out of one of the tanks and the situation was back to normal. Is that something somebody else has experienced or not? Other then that I was pleased with the results.

I guess I spoke too soon. I was playing one of the campaign missions (03 Pathfinder) for about 45 minutes and saved the game started it up again and noticed there was a message the driver was injured, I hit remove him from the vehicle and it crashed to desktop. When I tried to play the game again the game would not load, I got this message:

"Cannot Create 3D devices" Resolution 1024 x 768 format etc. Error D3DERR_INVALID CALL" See what I mean, every time I do something the games crashes. Does this mean I should lower the resolution again? I also notices in the .cfg file the rendering number had changed from 1024 x 700, I had made it the same as the other resolution, I did not change it to 1024 x 700 it just happened. I made a correction in the .cfg back to 1024 x 768 but it did not stop the error message. Geez!

Try checking your cpu utilization, games will crashed it it's pushed to 100%.

a lot of other factor like too much heat too.

Could also be your direct x is corrupted and u need to reinstall it. It's pretty common for data to get corrupted if your hdd is more than 3-4 years old

you might want to do a full scandisk once, so the system will mark any bad sector so new files wont be written over it and cause another corrupt file.
