Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted June 25, 2002 I bought Soldier of Fortune yesterday, just for fun. I played it for a day and it realy sucks. Online gaming is okay but nothing damm special. Anyway, what a surprise, that SOF II from Activision 100% resembles MEdal of Honour. It is a bit like a stupid comic-film. (with very good AI though). In short, if you like a bit the realistic flair of weapons then buy global operations. AI sucks and the single-player modus too, but the weapons are incredibly realistic and there are tons of them. And multiplayer-levels are great. I only bought soldier of Fortune because it has better critiques in game-mags but they are all wrong as it seems Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

The first one really kept me busy for months, MP, playing SP over and over just for the gore factor. hovmand 0 Posted June 25, 2002 Its amazing how the the game developers of those FPS games cant come up with something new, its just the same over and over again, and they are all using the same engine so you can barely tell the difference, aside from the weapons and textures. I mean after you get over the fact that you can blow peoples limbs off and carve up their dead bodies with a knife.... it just gets old. InRange 1 Posted June 25, 2002 SOF 2 certainly isn't a bad game. You can't compare it with Flashpoint, IMO. I mean, SOF2 was built with a certain fun factor in mind whereas OFP tries to be as realistic as possible (no jumping, etc) So what can you say. SOF2 does become a fun game if you play it long enough (and you get past that lousy jungle level). I mean, its funny when you accidentally shoot a badguy on the other side of a door. Atleast BIS hasn't ruined my idea of a good RPG or strategygame yet, but I'm sure if they move into these fields, same will happen Tried the demo of SOF2 and it was really boring. Only played 5 mins. If you did I suspect Battlefield 1942 will disapoint you. It looked good, but when I found out that it was going to be arcadey I don't know now. As for SOFII for an action shooter, it is very good. The AI is tough and doesn't' cheat as much as MOHAA (deadly aim, always knowing you are around) and uses gernades and flashbangs quite well. Often they will toss a flash to blind you then a gernade to finish you off. The seem to know when you run into a room with no exits that you are stuck and will toss gernades. Also they will drop their rifle and draw their secondary if you are infront of them when they run out of ammo. I don't think I've seen any other game do that.
