Voice Command software you are using for arma2

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, do you use voice command when playing arma2?

If you do, can you recommend me what software are you using and does it affect game performance or anything that i should know beforehand.

I'm thinking that if i macro the command like danger. stealth, hold fire and etc to voice it will give better gaming experience to me. I also have some flight sim game i want to use it too.

Thanks.

I tried 2 so far: Voice Activated Commands (VAC) software and GlovePIE 0.45 Free

If you do, can you recommend me what software are you using and does it affect game performance or anything that i should know beforehand.

VAC got user-friendly interface, free to try for 14-days, accurate and fast speech recognition. GlovePIE 0.45 got straightforward interface where you have to manually enter your commands, freeware (donate to say thanks), adjustable 'amount of confidence' in speech recognition.

VAC saves commands as a profile (XML), GlovePIE saves commands as a PIE script. Both programs run in background, waits for phrase/s then once a phrase is recognized executes the commands which you 'programmed' it to do. You can program both to activate speech recognition only on specific action like a button press or a phrase as in the case of GlovePIE where you can script it to temporarily deactivate listening to commands but main script still runs.

My first-hand experience with both programs did not give me issues with game performance.

I'm thinking that if i macro the command like danger. stealth, hold fire and etc to voice it will give better gaming experience to me.

Check out JojoTheSlayer's YouTube channel (above) for basic the commands in VAC then syntheticsoundscapes' YouTube channel for GlovePIE Arma2 demo video. I think they also have threads about it here at the forum. I just don't know the specific thread address.

I use voice recognition on my laptop while playing ArmA II and the experience is really gratifying. I only play in single player mode. Got several videos on my channel (or check my signature) demonstrating VAC and GlovePIE in action.

Voice-activated artillery strike, remote detonation, adding of weapons vehicles etc no longer 'realism' on a milsim. To each his own. :yay:

I used to play older sim game like f22 total war which have lots of menu due to it's a complicated game and dont really mind arma or ofp similar style of menu. But after a while going through the menu while in a dogfight is not really appealing.

I've seen the video, it looks kinda good and pretty easy to use. I'll try vac when i have some free time, dont want to waste the free demo time given with it :)

Same here. I use default Windows speech recognition, with someone's Glovepie script. Of course, I rewrote some of the phrases to fit better what I would actually say in that particular situation.

Just fixed up my microphone settings and now GlovePie works flawlessly for me again :D shouldn't have turned on conversation mode.

I'd highly recommend glovepie though, it detects very accurately for me.
