OA crash on start-up: StackHash

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I wasnt able t find any help with a search so here goes. I am using Windows 7. (GEForce GTX570) I had the steam version of OA patched to the latest version and it's worked fine since day one. (BTW Arma 2 works fine even now).

Started having a problem yesterday with the danish mod. All the sudden yesterday the game starts crashing. Validated integrity steam cache and seems to now be able to reaquire it. Tried everything to include complete steam OA reinstall. STill getting the same crash. The crash details are:

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

Application Version: 1.62.95.248

Application Timestamp: 500d59cb

Fault Module Name: StackHash_cc8f

Fault Module Version: 6.1.7601.17725

Fault Module Timestamp: 4ec49b8f

Exception Code: c0000374

Exception Offset: 000ce6c3

OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3

Locale ID: 1033

Additional Information 1: cc8f

Additional Information 2: cc8f758f4d0878d55a6a170bb68d98b7

Additional Information 3: 5f7b

Additional Information 4: 5f7b347fc2f5e6b888b8c3442040edaf

I searched the web and found a few hits that suggested its a DEP error, went to dep to include an exception to OA and it reports OA must have DEP on so that doesn't work.

The thing was working fine up until yesterday. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Started having a problem yesterday with the danish mod.

Does the problem persist with vanilla ArmA 2/OA/CO? The troubleshooting section id for vanilla game without mods. If you can track it down to the mod then you will have to contact the mod creator(s) and/or post in their thread.

RESOLVED

Yes this issue is with plain vanilla. BTW it has been resolved. Thanks to Dragonsyr. The issue was in fact with the ACRE dsound.DLL. Even without starting any mods

that dsound.dll Fs up the startup. I am deeply appreciative of the help!

I had the same problem and removing the dsound.dll from the Arma 2 directory fixed it for me too. Thank you!
