-Anti- 1 Posted July 25, 2012 Hi, I've noticed that at low skill level there is a nice red glow that surrounds AI to help you spot them. But as you turn up skill level, that gradually disappears; at skill 1, there is no glow. Is there a way to keep the glow, even though the skill of the AI is set high? Also, can anyone give their opinion about which is the better AI enhancement mod: A2SLX / COSLX versus ASR AI I know about ACE AI, but don't want to install the main ACE mod. Are there any other AI mods I should try to enhance single player missions/campaigns? Thanks.
metalcraze 290 Posted July 25, 2012 Glow is there for training purposes on the lowest difficulty. It should help you learn to spot enemies. The game should be played without it normally. There's no way to change its behavior that I know of but you should learn to play without it, especially if you are going to play MP.
-Coulum- 35 Posted July 26, 2012 Sorry, can't help you with the glow thing, But like metalcraze said, its only really meant to be a "helper to get into the game." As for ai mods I would personally suggest ASR AI because ASR doesn't "cover up" BIS ai coding (which is actually fairly good) ASR is far less system intensive ASR is VERY configurable - you can set it to your preferences Both are very good mods and I would suggest you try them both out. And of course I love playing with TPWC Suppression which works well with ASR AI and COSLX. Best way to find out is to try them though. And of course you could also try using both mods at the same time...
gunso 10 Posted July 27, 2012 Arma 2 difficulty only affects visual aids not the AI difficulty. You'll be going against the same AI unless you're starting to use AI enhancement mods.
scruffy 22 Posted July 27, 2012 You can change the settings for each difficulty level in the menu. Options->game options->difficulty->Recruit->edit You can't enable all helpers on the higher levels, but you can disable everything on the lower ones. So change Recruit to the settings you like and enable "Enemy Tag". It will only work in singleplayer, the server settings are used in multiplayer games. -Anti- 1 Posted July 27, 2012 (edited) I already tried enemy tag, and it seemed like that also worked also vice versa too, because suddenly the AI had super vision and could see me where ever I was compared with when the tag was off! Maybe it was just bad luck or my imagination. I'll test it again. It's a pity about the red glow not being configurable - it's not realistic, but at least it's much more subtle than a text tag hovering above the enemy. By the way, the reason why it might be so difficult for me to see the enemy is because I'm running the game at 1024x768 with everything on low and still only getting 20-24fps. For people like me who don't have gaming computers, visual hints are a necessary evil! Anyway, thanks for all the replies. Ringosis 10 Posted July 28, 2012 Arma 2 difficulty only affects visual aids not the AI difficulty. You'll be going against the same AI unless you're starting to use AI enhancement mods. Difficulty affects all AI's accuracy, their awareness, how quickly they spot/hear you, whether or not they panic under fire, if they stay in formation, if they suppress or flank. It definitely not just visual aids. Lower difficulty levels also let you take more hits before dying and turn automatic guidance on for certain launcher weapons.
