simonmz 1 Posted July 25, 2012 (edited) I have just purchased arma 2 to play dayZ but i actually cant install it due to the fact that sprocket does not want to work on my computer. Im running on windows xp 64bit proffessional. I have tried to use the direct links but they seem to be for windows 7 or vista. I get this error message when trying to download through sprocket: "The procedure entry point RegSetKeyValueA could not be located in the dynamic link library ADVAPI32.dll." I CAN NOT USE THE DIRECT LINKS AS I GET THE ERROR MESSAGE: "is not a valid win32 application" WHEN TRYING TO RUN THE SETUP. Please help. tonygrunt 10 Posted July 25, 2012 If you have problem with the downloader use the direct links. Last line should be: "If you experience problems with the downloader, you may wish to use direct link to download with browser here" Click on here and download the files through your browser. Unless there is heavy demand on the store they should work.

tonygrunt 10 Posted July 25, 2012 Click on the last here to get the direct links. Download all files and then run setup.
simonmz 1 Posted July 25, 2012 omg does no1 read? "I have tried to use the direct links but they seem to be for windows 7 or vista."
tonygrunt 10 Posted July 25, 2012 The error msg you get is when running the sprocket.exe. That is one way to download the game. Forget sprocket.exe, 2nd way to download the game is from a series of links, you click each link and you download it on your pc. These are just normal http links pointing to files, I fail to see how these could produce the error "The procedure entry point RegSetKeyValueA could not be located in the dynamic link library ADVAPI32.dll.". simonmz 1 Posted July 25, 2012 omg you have no understanding whatsoever. THE OTHER LINKS, THE FILES YOU ARE LINKING ME TO, WHEN I DOWNLOAD ALL 4 OF THE .BIN FILES, THEN RUN THE SETUP.EXE IT SAYS "C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ADMINISTRATOR\DESKTOP\NEW FOLDER\ARMA2_110_SETUP.EXE IS NOT A VALID WIN32 APPLICATION" Does that make sense now? im not talking about sprocket, im talking about the direct link u keep mentioning! Guest Posted July 25, 2012 Please stop typing in all caps! §12) Do not type in all capital letters, all bold, or in a non-black fontTyping in all caps equates (according to standard net etiquette) to yelling. It is also difficult and obnoxious to read such posts. This also applies to posting all in bold or all in a certain font colour just to try to make your words stand out, if your point is interesting enough or well written enough it will stand out. You're welcome of course to use different colours for parts of your post if it helps clarify certain areas, but typing complete messages in any colour other than black should be avoided. Since you seem to have forgotten the forum rules already after 3 post (also related to duplication of threads) I will link you to them again so you can give them another read: http://forums.bistudio.com/misc.php?do=showrules
simonmz 1 Posted July 25, 2012 ok cool, so as you're a moderator does that mean you have any knowledge to my problem?
tonygrunt 10 Posted July 25, 2012 Sorry, but your question was about problems with downloading the game, not that you had problem running the setup of the game. One possible solution for your problem might be that you need the VC++ redistributable. Unfortunately there are various versions of it and not sure which you need. You could try installing from the newest back to oldest and probably you will need only the x32 ones (setup.exe in 32bit) not the x64 versions.
Placebo 29 Posted July 25, 2012 I CAN NOT USE THE DIRECT LINKS AS I GET THE ERROR MESSAGE: "is not a valid win32 application" WHEN TRYING TO RUN THE SETUP. Considering they are valid win32 applications this almost always points to a problem somewhere with your OS installation or more likely an incomplete/corrupt download. The advice you received earlier about downloading the files manually is a good one because it helps you ensure you get the correct files downloaded properly, obviously you need OA and Arma2 to play DayZ so did you buy both from Store.bistudio.com? Sprocket is just another name for our digital distribution system, the files you need will look as below: I appreciate you're frustrated that you can't get it working but petulantly spitting and shouting at people trying to help is not the appropriate way to talk to people on these forums. simonmz 1 Posted July 25, 2012 i wasnt "petuantly spitting and shouting at people" as its not possible through a internet thread. Although i did type to him and numerously reply with the same comment coping with his lack of understanding people. I did download the arma bin's (all 4) and then the setup but when i ran the setup it literally told me it wasnt a win32 app. Not too sure on what to do now, i might try to repair windows using the installation disk but i have no effort to reformat after downloading all of my other games. So sorry for my lack of understanding people. If you just had provided that information on your first post and not titled your thread as "Game download problems!" as apparently you downloaded the files. And lets not forget this from your first post: I get this error message when trying to download through sprocket Maybe you have some problem communicating your thoughts too. simonmz 1 Posted July 25, 2012 No, so where do i download that file from? ---------- Post added at 00:48 ---------- Previous post was at 00:46 ---------- if you read the whole post you might have noticed, (what i later re-writ in bold capitals) it said "I have tried to use the direct links but they seem to be for windows 7 or vista." I suggest you show some more respect to our head moderator. There are no different executables for Windows XP, Windows Vista or Seven, they are all the same for every Windows OS. Actually I never seen any download (except drivers and 64bit software) that was separated into Windows XP and Vista/7 downloads. I think it was suggested before already, but have you tried to download the latest Visual C++ redistributable? "is not a valid win32 application" Most probably a corrupted download, or some problem with your OS. Edited July 26, 2012 by W0lle

Placebo 29 Posted July 26, 2012 No, so where do i download that file from? TonyGrunt showed you exactly where to download that file from, even took the time to post a picture and an explanation, and what did you do? Ranted like a petulant child at him. mbamg 1 Posted July 30, 2012 (edited) I'm having this problem with direct downloading the ArmA 2 install files. Every time I'm led to an .html file or an empty file, whether I'm using my browser or download manager to download. I do not have this same problem with the OA files. I'd prefer not to use Sprocket, so can anyone help? This seems like a server distribution problem if anything. Edited July 30, 2012 by mbamg
Placebo 29 Posted July 30, 2012 Describe your steps? Because I just went to Account Maintenance, clicked on Arma2 download, clicked the end "here" and the individual links open fine to download, no html files etc.
mbamg 1 Posted July 30, 2012 I've gone into my email inbox and clicked on the link in the purchase confirmation, then clicked on the direct download link. I then click on one of the files listed. Whether I'm using my download manager or browser, the resulting file has no size listed. The same thing happens when I go into Account Maintenance.

Try a different browser and dont use download manager. I'm still trying to remember how i fix it tho.
