anthropoid 1 Posted June 14, 2012 Sorry if there is a FAQ or previous thread that specifically addresses these questions. I looked and apart from general threads on addons I couldn't find anything that specifically addresses my questions I'm downloading RH pistols and SMG packs. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=12800 http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=13788 I'm familiar with how to install "add-ons" to the game and then enable expansions in the Operation Arrowhead main game window. Couple questions: 1. Is there anything special I need to do to get new weapons packs working, in particular working with a particular mission I play (e.g., Lost)? If I just add the downloaded files as directed, will randomly generated ammo and weapons crates populate with some of these weapons? Will they show up in the Armory? 2. Any suggestions on other handgun weapons packs? Mainly I wanted to have more compact submachineguns and machine pistol options, weapons that realistically should be able to be carried in the "handgun" inventory slot for a soldier. Will they show up in the Armory? you'll find all weapons in either ammo boxes provided by those addons, or units using those weapons, all in the editor. they may show up in the armory. read the notes on those pages: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=12800 There's ammo box too and now you can run Arma 2 OA/CO with new guns and again enjoy those pistols. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=13788 There's also ammo box for these weapons and ENjoy those weapons !! :-D Plus they have their own release threads, which you should actually be using. anthropoid 1 Posted June 14, 2012 Ah, so "ammo boxes" mean that there is an item populated in the game that will have those specific weapons and ammos in it eh? And that will be true for ANY map that has any random spawn ammo crates? Mostly here I'm just curious about how resources in the game self-populate, not specifically in those packs. Say for example, I were to create a "Klingon Disruptors" pack with "ammo boxes," then anyone who installed that addon could get those weapons and ammos to auto-populate anywhere in a given map that there was a random spawn weapon crate? Gunter Severloh 4067 Posted June 15, 2012 Yes and no, there is no "Auto" ammo boxes, theres ammo boxes you have to place in the editor to get access to those weapons. The ammo boxes for those weapons in particular are probably named by the maker of those boxes, so you have to place those boxes to get access to those weapons. Ammo boxes with those weapons will not populate everywhere, you would need to script or code this. If you were to setup a random spawn with those ammo boxes to show, again needs to be coded and or scripted then you can add the option to have those ammo boxes in particular to show too. Say for example, I were to create a "Klingon Disruptors" pack with "ammo boxes," then anyone who installed that addon could get those weapons and ammos to auto-populate anywhere in a given map that there was a random spawn weapon crate? No wont work like that, there is no auto populate, you have to script this. When you add a weapon pack to your game as in your playing with a weapon pack you will need to create a mission in order to use the weapon pack, or the weapon pack in itself dont do anything, the same would go for if you had an addon that adds new units (soldier) tot he game, you would need to create a mission and place those units in the mission. The other option is using the weapon pack's classnames, but again you need to script what your asking to do. Create a mission first and then go from there, other wise the ammo packs in themselves are nothing but more weapons added to the game and wont be used unless placed in a mission. Theres addons like a weapon pack which your using, then theres addons/mods that change the gameplay universally, weapons packs and a gameplay mod are 2 different things, 1 adds items to the game, while the other changes how the game is played, i think your mixing the two, and it dont work like that, but it can, you'll need to script it though. tom3kb 15 Posted June 15, 2012 Yeah, if you want to play with new weapons pack you must edit mission/campaign. You put ammo box or add class names to description.ext in mission folder. Ps: if you want to play with all Rh packs check campaigns made by Sick1: Seal team six 1-4, Devgru, Detachment Delta. They use all weapons from Rh weapons packs.
