RKI_BASE needed. Anyone knows where this file belongs? (Cannot resume missions)

Recommended Posts

So I got "You can not play/edit this mission" error upon resuming ANY missions, from BIS to custom missions. The only problem seems to be clear that the addon "rki_base" is missing. After going through some mod folders I found some addons with the same names like rki_rifles.pbo and rki_backpacks.pbo. But rki_base, never heard of it. So I'd be thankful if someone knows this addon and where to get it. I've been in editor all day because I cannot resume any mission!

Im not 100% sure but i think its something from

Nogovan Armed Forces Project made by R0adki11. Now he release all stuff in 1 pack. But earlier he release small packs with: tanks,units etc. Maybe its something from 1 off older packs becose i dont see rki_base in new release.

Earlier he released:

nogovan light infantry soldier pack, nogovan paratroopers, nogovan craw pack, nogovan rifles pack, nogovan tank pack, nogovan backpacks etc. Now its all in one.

Maybe this will help you little.

Hi there,

im currently at work at the moment, so im unable to check my config files. But if i recall ive not used an rki_base in any of my addons, but im not 100% sure. Perhaps disable the mod folder that has my addons in it and see if you can launch BIS mission or custom missions. I will have to investigate when im next at my PC which wont be till atleast Thursday night. (real life comes first).

However if your able to test each rki addon by slowly adding one by one into an addon folder this would help me locat which addon could be causing the issue.

Thanks

I appreciate the help, tom3kb. I have listed all rki mods, take a look at the second picture.

Thanks for your reply, R0adki11. I appreciate the help and currently I'm currently happy with the editor now (since there're tons of mods to test out) but yet I haven't found the problem. Take a look at these two screenshots:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1340882/Photos/Temp/Arma%20error%201.jpg (130 kB)

As you can see I was trying to resume the very official campaign of the game (it does happen to all playable missions). I restarted the mission, save and resume immediately without exiting the game (ensuring no file/folder structure's been altered) but this error keep popping up. Then I tried to list all "rki_*" prefixed-files and found these (being used in game)

Roki.JPG

I tried to "trick" the game by cloning rki_backpacks.pbo and rename it to rki_base.pbo (just realized how stupid this is) but at no use, still that error. The remaining addons are the ones used in-game. Currently I'm living in the editor, trying every single piece of item just to feel how good this game is. Leaving the missions there (as well as tons of custom mission on Armaholic). I'd thank a million times if you could somehow take a deeper look at the error and help me solve it (I'm not dying to play, just take you time) :)

By the way. Is there a way to "re-class" the custom addons? (like having one originally from USMC changed to Russia, or Air to Special Vehicles) or can you just help me with reading the *.bin config files. "Config Editor `Laza" seems to be a good tool but I just can't find it, the site that hosted this is down.

Well i finished early tonight from work and found some time to do a quick test. i cant find any issue with trying to play BIS Missions or Custom missions using the lastest release of my Mod.I would suggest that you delete all the rki_ listed addons and download my new updated Mod as found in this topic http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?117030-Nogovan-Armed-Forces-Project if you wish to use them.

Also can i check that you are using CO - Arma2 Combined Operations (Arma2 and Operation Arrowhead) together?

Hope that helps.

Ok, for troubles with vanilla missions/campaigns that needs only arma 2 co i can suggest only 1 thing, run clean arma 2 co without any mods and restart mission/campaign from last save or in case of campaign: from start or from last mission you played. Or you can load mission with all mods you have on hdd.

About rki_ i think R0adki11 can help you with this becose he is the expert in this part :).

Maybe completely unrelated but i got that same error when using MCC Sandbox and then de-activating it without de-activating any other mods?

As tom3kb says i would recommend only running a clean Arma2 CO when playing BIS Missions or Campaign's. but for custom missions only run the addons you need via mod folders is the best solution i find :)

And you must remember that if you run mission with mods folders on, even if that mission dont need any addons you must run game next time with the same mods or you will have that message "can not edit play etc".

I have few shortcuts for arma. 1 with all weapons, units, islands etc needed for all campaigns. Few with only 1mod+sounds+fx, for example:

@cwr;@jsrs;@blastcore;@cba or

@ofrp;@jsrs;@cba.

It won't budge, same error. But I didn't mention something first: I owned ARMA II and OA (Stand Alone). I combined them by using the Addons folder of ARMAII as a mod. No startup error, but it's possible this caused the problem. The only thing I'm confused is how the hell rki_base is involved in such, since my ARMA II is mod-free. It's all vanilla. Any more idea guys? TIA.

Hi, after some further investigation into all of my config files, i found a class called rki_base in my rki_rifles. Not sure how i overlooked this before, but then again ive never had any errors like how you are mentioning when i tested the addon.But at the end of the day im only human, so sorry about that.

I have created an hotfix for the rifles and a my c130 addon, if you download and replace those .pbo's that should resolve your issues. You can find the hotfix here: http://naf.8bit-online.co.uk/files/arma2/NAF_hotfix.7z

Thanks

Guess what? You solved the problem, totally. Although It'd take a while backtracking the progress, I'd like to thank you a lot. Something must be (personally) wrong with your rifles mod and the fix just got it nicely rectified. What a relief! I can actually play Arma now.

Still, can you help me reading the config *.bin files?

Just a small issue of base class was present in the addon, it wasnt anything wrong. I never noticed it during my tests nor did my testers :confused: Least we got it resolved, with regard to config files, i would ask the question in: Configs-And-Scripting
