multiplayer mods help

Recommended Posts

Hey Ive recently started playing arma 2 and have bought OA.

Problem is there seems to be a lot of empty servers and most other servers are running mods.

Question I have is what are the most popular mods for multiplayer?as in, what mods should i use to see busiest multiplayer server.

Dayz not included

Hi welcome to the community and Forums!,

What is your current game setup, like when you launch the game are you running Aram2CO (combined Operations which is Arma2 plus OA,

basically OA installed into the Arma2 directory?

and what version of the game are you running?

also what are your mp filters set to?

these will affect what server showup for you and or what servers you can join.

as for mods cant help you there i only play with either I44 or COWarMod or both ;) and usually on my own server.

Ok, great, You'll need CBA for sure for mods.

The window at the bottom should show what mods a server is running when u click on a server.

For your info, heres what the colored circles mean:

The "green" circle means you should be able to enter the server with no trouble.

The "orange" w/Question Mark symbol means that you are not running the exact same mods as the server in question, and may -or may not- be able to enter.

The "black" w/key symbol means that it is a password protected server, which may -or may not- be found on either their web-site or TS/Vent server.

The "red" X symbol means that your game version does not match that of the servers.

also heres a guide:

New to Multiplayer? (Read this guide)

you can always try the Dayz mod if your into zombies, that seems to be the big fad nowadays, and lots of servers up for the mod too with plenty of players.

hope that helps.

There are plenty of servers that run the mission "Insurgency", which I quite enjoy. Most of the time, I seem to get in with a good group of guys with microphones and lots of teamwork. I was playing last night, and the insurgents managed to pin us down in a compound. We called for backup, but our backup was killed by an RPG just near the compound. We all ended up dying. :D

As for mods, ACE seems to be a popular mod, but it makes ArmA about 2x more complicated than it already is. It may be confusing for some new people. Armaholic is a great site dedicated to the ArmA series, it's been around since the introduction of ArmA: Armed Assault back in 2006 and has been my primary user-made content site since. It wasn't around in the Operation Flashpoint days, as far as I know. I always used to use opflashpoint.org for Operation Flashpoint, which has since been shut down. :( Oh dear, it seems I'm rambling on again. :D

Fortunately, most Insurgency missions do not require any addons. Some may require ACE, but like I said, ACE makes the game even more complicated.

There are plenty of servers running Insurgency. Use the filters.

As you can see, many of them are running ACE, but there are a few that aren't.

Also look at the name of the server, many of them have web page info, which you can then use to find information on what mods are in use or teamspeak info. Folks are always trying to jump in my server when we have a group on and because they don't have the right mods and our server is "signed" they get auto kicked. Most groups welcome folks to drop in but have taken steps against cheaters by using signatures and Battleye.
