james2464 177 Posted May 10, 2012 Lets be honest, if you take a look at the numbers during peak time you could almost say Arma 2 was relatively dead online before Dayz hit the roof! Is this right? The amount of online activity is nothing i've ever seen... has Arma ever seen this? It's great don't get me wrong! It just goes to show the power of mods and their ability to bring new players into a game they would've otherwise not even considered. It also proves Arma is more than capable of attending to nearly any gamemode, I never thought you could have a "master" server and save progress along the way publicly, this is a totally different ball game for Arma is it not? This could be applied to other gamemodes too, perhaps we could see an Army MMO in the future? What are your thoughts on Dayz and its impact?
tremanarch 6 Posted May 10, 2012 (edited) At first I wasnt interested. I didnt knew any good Zombie games. For me it sounded like just another Zombie game.. But then after trying I liked DayZ very much. It is a good mod. It cannot hold vs a good warfare or Domination match, but it is still alpha and will get better! I think why so many people are attractet is because it is easy to learn. There are no roles, no machines. etc.. Brings me to the conclusion that BIS could include Tutorials for the MP modes... easy to understand ones.. A mod like DayZ is the exact perfect counterpart to Wafare / Domination Matches. You play either that or that when you want to play lonewolf, with fear and paranoia, or when you like to play with humans and coordiantion... Its the perfect antagonist and should be portet over to ArmA III aswell. Edited May 10, 2012 by tremanarch
kdjac 19 Posted May 10, 2012 A modders simple idea proves to be one of the best mods ever made...for any game. Fact he works for BI makes it intriguing. Lets be honest Arma is brilliant without a doubt a brilliant game.....but we are the minority in thinking Arma is brilliant. We have all tried to get others to like it and failed due to the games cumbersome nature. Dayz removes all of that and just makes it simple....people like simple. And as Arma shoots up the steam sales chart bouyed by favourable reviews on top game sites. its obvious simple sells..... Hopefully the elitist community here will take these newbies on board.....but i doubt it.
max power 21 Posted May 10, 2012 Very nice, but there is a thread that already exists for Day Z. Thank you :)
