fred1248 1 Posted April 5, 2012 Okay, here's the thing. Me and couple of my friends have been playing Arma 2 multiplayer for some time. We downloaded several maps for arma 2. But I honestly have no idea how to use those maps. When you host a multiplayer game via in game menu, there is no way you can select a map through the maps list, as it only shows maps that are related with Utes and Chernarus. I tried using server control, but none of the buttons there work. I'm using ARMA 2 CO, and my friends are using Arma 2 free. Any thoughts?
.kju 3245 Posted April 5, 2012 1) You need to launch the a2.exe to play with you friend (just for clarification) 2) Missions are downloaded to .\MPMissionsCache 3) To be able to select them yourself, when you host a MP sessions, you need to move them to .\MPMissions 4) Make hidden files and folders shown and you will find them in "my documents" on C: I believe. Does that help? Or where you about something else?
Gunter Severloh 4088 Posted April 5, 2012 Hi, We downloaded several maps for arma 2. But I honestly have no idea how to use those maps. Both you and your friends need those maps to play on your server, just create a folder and name them @islands (mod folder) and then inside that folder create another folder and name it addons (dont misspell it) put all the addons (pbos) for those maps into the addons folder. then move that @islands folder with addons folder inside to your Arma2 directory. then be sure to add it to your target line in your shortcut so you launch the game with your new mod then You need missions for those maps (islands). 1. go to mp in your game, create new (server) 2. once you got your server going then the maps(islands as what they are really called) will be on the left, missions on the right. choose a map, and missions for that map will show up, like i said if theres no missions for that map then you cant play on the map. 3. if a map does have a mission then it will show up on the right when you click on the map (repeat). 4. Missions in blue are missions that have been edited in the editor, missions that are gold, or tan are missions that are in a pbo format, which they are located in the mpmissions folder in your Arma2 directory. I'm using ARMA 2 CO, and my friends are using Arma 2 free. As PvPscene said run your game from the Arma2.exe, not the Arma2OA.exe, and make sure that your using Arma2 only maps, not maps made for OA. I think the correct terminology for this game should be learned as maps you are referring to from what Im getting are called missions or scenarios, and maps that you play them on are called Islands, thats pretty standard in the community. when you host a multiplayer game via in game menu, there is no way you can select a map through the maps list, as it only shows maps that are related with Utes and Chernarus. This is because if the missions (maps you call them) if built (made in the editor) on an island you dont have then those missions (maps) will not show up for you, you need the islands for those missions for the missions to show up on the list to the right. If you have the island on the left, then the mission if you have one for a given island will show up. Always read the requirements for missions, like on Armaholic, every mission at the bottom of the page has it where it says requirements, and whatever will be listed, if it requires a map, then it will be linked, and you just click on that link and you will find whats required. I hope that helps, and Im hoping that I had understood you correctly.
