omchydro 10 Posted March 17, 2012 Well how can i put this, a couple of months ago, i purchased Take on Helicopters from steam, been playing it with no problems at all. Yesterday i got Hind from http://takeonthegame.com/ (Offical website) and began to download with sprocket, no problems there.... When it downloads i proceed to install then it asked for email confermation and to input my cdkey, i input my email case sensitive, exactly as i registered. and inputted my cd key (Even copy & paste) but it still states this error:- There was a problem Activating Take on Helicopters = Hinds: Could not start activation process. Ive check my internet connection, firewall settings and nothing. I've even tried to google the issue and thats also come up a blank, ive email customer support and im awaiting an answer, but i was just wondering if anybody else has had this particular error and if there's a solution to it. I'm having the same issue. -Firewall is COMPLETELY OFF -set user email as exact caps as on my account, and tried several variations. My email contains no special characters or spaces. -ToH is @ version 1.05 and I confirm it works (used the 1.01 to 1.05 version of the patch, not the 1.04 then the compatibly patch) -run the install program as administrator (Win7-64 bit) -SN is copy/pasted directly from my email Also,just to be clear, when you say CD key, you mean serial number, correct? I contacted support by email, figured I'd ask here too. By the way, why the hell does the help link on the activation pop-up take me to the Impulse store... Update: Support responded. Said I should "copy and paste" the code in. That really ticked me off. They burned a day's email turn around on a throw away answer. aggressorblue 2 Posted March 27, 2012 (edited) So far tech support continues to give throwaways. Asking me to disable User account controls being the latest stall. I cut them off at the pass and also tried a safe mode re-install of of ToH (main program). Each response buys them another day, but I've had my fill. By the way, it's cute how the DRM to protect the title for BIS's sake (and their sake alone) requires me to lower all my firewalls and UAC. A nice touch guys. It's time to give me what I paid for, or give me my money back. Edit: This email came in today: "I'm afraid new key won't help in this case. We have discovered that there are rare situation when Hinds installer runs incorrect setup file from Windows cache. We are working on a solution but I cannot give you a definite ETA. So I will be issuing full refund. I apologize for not being much of a help." So that's cool. Anybody found a way to fix this ? NB : I desactivated my firewall, ran as administrator and carefully copy/pasted the serial from the confirmation mail... nothing. I've purchased the Take on Helicopters Bundle from the BI Store and am getting the same issue when trying to install the Hinds DLC. YellO 4 Posted April 14, 2013 I also stuck in activating Hinds for a month; could not enter "-" in my serial number. But last night I finally solved the problem. Solution: Moving TEMP folder back to default path. At first, I edited both User and System Environment Variables, (erroneously) used 2 bite character for folder name, and put it into D drive all for protecting my SSD. I don't specify which one or all was wrong, anyway returning all values to default allowed me to enter serial and clear activation procedure.
