Fuel consuption tank > car seems reversed

Recommended Posts

Im a bit puzzled about the fact that all cars in arma, even those skodas and other smal more fuel effeicient cars have such a short fuel milage, you use half your gas driving just across chernarus on roads...thats equals 25Liters for 15km ???

Thats not even right for a fuel hog like the hummer and in civil cars its a joke, especially as tanks seems to have e super efficient fuel milage in game, in a tank you rarely run out of fuel.

THis should be adressed, its a serious shotcoming. In a civilan car or truck you need to stop at every gas station currently...Why?

I noticed this while playing on of the zombie survival maps MP lately, and all of the sudden gas was more of a problem then ammunition...thats strange when a full gas tank last only around 50km.

amnd it does not seeem to matter how fast you drive, consumptions seems always the same at 115km/h or at idle.

Das anyone have experience with the range of real HMMVs in combat configuration..is a range of 50-60km right ???

The UAZ seems not that far off since it has a huge consumption (15L/100km and a small tank (2x 40L) but even a UAZ should make 200km on one of its 2 gas tank, not 60km

Fuel consumption is scripted in some missions. Highly doubt that there are enough people who have the time or who are in the mood to drive around just to find out that its good to know where the next gas station or fuel truck is. AFAIK all vehicles (on default) have enough fuel to get into the area of operations and back. Increasing the fuel consumption of vehicles in a mission is just a trick to keep the player aware + cautious and the mission designer can "guide" him somehow. :)

It's definately not mission related as I have my figures here from vanilla editor mission...just drop and drive and admire the fuel gauge going down quickly.

Are you just nitpicking that players can "only" drive 50km with some vehicles without refueling or just bored? In how many missions players are "forced" to refuel? How many players are really annoyed that they have to refuel? Maps/islands are mostly not 1:1 to real world so one has to find a proper way for an compromise. Even simulations can't have all the things working like in real - a big part they can simulate but the rest is a compromise/workaround (= not the big deal).

MSO - you refuel. ;) Many a times. And think of maps like CLAFGHAN, getting from top to bottom of the map you will probably have to refuel.

You wont notice this when you have the habit to see every unit as disposable. I don't and I often manege to use the same vehicle for 1-2 hours in warfare3 MP...and that's when you find out that you have to refuel all 5 towns and you need 2 refuels to cross the map in the diagonal on roads. Also A.I. will run out of fuel just idling somewhere for 1 hour. (mostly ammo and refuel trucks used as FARP somewhere) thats onyl for cars off cpuse tanks can cross aroudn the map endlesssly and rarly need to refuel. IN every game that has at least a minimum od relalism this should be reversed...tanks in combat often have only 100-150km range with a fuel load (in first Iraq war the M1's had to refuel all 60 miles due to excessive comsuption of the turbine on sand surface) Edited by Beagle
