Hit_Sqd_Maximus 0 Posted June 13, 2002 When my brother and I play ofp over our lan and ics..... is there a way that fade wont be activated(without buying a new copy)? cause that is really anoying.
Kermit 0 Posted June 13, 2002 I have the same problem. My copy is perfectly legal, but I cannot play my brother over our LAN. Seems like Codemasters went overboard.
dayglow 2 Posted June 13, 2002 That's a normal software licience 1 copy 1 computer. Some games allow the disk to be used in 2 machines, ie one normal install and 1 mp only install, but not many. Codemasters hasn't done anything out of the ordinary here. COLINMAN
skytheman 1 Posted June 13, 2002 I got my game in aug. I found a good ol Cd-Crack works... Me and my sister play all the time with no problems Warning: do not post crack download links here, because: 1) they will be deleted soon anyway 2) you may easily loose your posting rights It works, fine. As long as you got a leagal CD-Key fresh from the box!

FetishFool 0 Posted June 13, 2002 Yeah, it's against the rules to speak of cracks, hacks, warez, gamez, moviez and all that here. BIS will put the smack down on children if anyone speaks of them for a third time in the same forum section. I just spoke of it the second time with my first line. That's how noobious BIS is about them.

Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted June 13, 2002 I dont get it why people cant post cd-cracks inhere. Its sad u cant switch CD's when playing multiplayer over LAN. I have to use a pirated version everytime im playing in a LAN game, since if not, i have noone to play with :/ Oh well, i guess thats the future. But games like Starcraft, Redalet/RA2, Warzone, Battlezone, Halflife (and all mods), dont use CD while playing multiplayer, or u can switch it from machine to machine. Shrikey 0 Posted June 13, 2002 i suppose its to sell more cd's thought i do see the point of everybody haveing a legal version of the game it is only hurting the MP mode by greatly complicating LAN play
Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted June 13, 2002 They arent selling more CDs, they are just ingriesing the warez of the game. Since u have to have a warez version at a lan, people dont delete it when they get home. If they like it, they play it, if not they delete it.... Both cases... no CDs will be bought. Brian Smith 1 Posted June 13, 2002 My registered copy works fine on my home LAN without Fade, allowing me to play with my son. Start Flashpoint to menu screen on PC 1, take out CD, fire up game on PC 2 and game works fine. Make sure internet connection sharing is off. If my son is good, I'll buy him his own copy (don't want his grubby hands on my CD).
Major Fubar 0 Posted June 13, 2002 I still maintain that no-CD patches are NOT warez. I use them all the time for games I have legal copies of so I don't need to dig out my CDs every time I want to play a game; and also when I take my PC to friends places to play LAN games (that way I don't need to remember to bring every CD of every game I want to play). As long as games are only installed on one machine per copy, there is nothing wrong with no-CD patches IMHO. Besides, even with these patches, fade will still be activated unless each machine has a different CD key - at least that's the way i understand fade to work... MassMartyr 0 Posted June 13, 2002 Ummm... Although Suma did a good job on editing skytheman's original post link to "cracker" sites, the quote in the very next message still has his original references. Try to do a good deed...eh Ralph? Â
dayglow 2 Posted June 13, 2002 A crack is warez for the simple reason that it violates the software licience. The licience would state that the code may not be altered, etc... and that's exactly what a crack does. COLINMAN
Tex -USMC- 0 Posted June 13, 2002 That makes many mods illegal also, but there is a whole section devoted to them
Warin 0 Posted June 13, 2002 </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (Tex [uSMC] @ June 13 2002,18:18)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">That makes many mods illegal also, but there is a whole section devoted to them<span id='postcolor'> Actually, that's not exactly true. BIS and Codemasters have provided the tools to allow mods to the game, because they realize that user created add ons and modifications are the lifeblood of a healthy community. If all we ever had was the original stuff, the community would dry up rather quickly. CD Cracks on the other hand are circumventing copy protection. And while they might have the benign use of allowing a valid owner to play without his CD in the drive, they also allow piracy. Mods=Good Piracy=Bad BIS released a really good demo for the game that lets you try it out and decide if you'd like to buy it. And I've never really seen the need to get anal about having to have a CD in when I play...so I really dont see the fuss.
shadow 6 Posted June 13, 2002 I admit that I've used quite a few nocd-crack the past few years for games that I own and games I don't own. Sue me if you care BUT I have never used a single crack for OFP. 3 reasons: 1)I own two copys (1 for each of my 2 computers) 2)I like my OFP the way BIS intended for it to be. 3)I support the developers of games I like the best way I know of. That means : buying their products and don't take away their time by asking tons of redicoulus questions regarding mis-behaviour of OFP (FADE) due to 3rd-party cracks
