MadMuzza 10 Posted February 19, 2012 Well I'm about to take my first steps into modelling with this game but at the moment I'm stuck on which software to use, I've spoke to a couple of friends who all use 3Dmax for their stuff, but I was wondering if there is certain software more suited for Arma? [frl]myke 14 Posted February 19, 2012 Blender Wings3D Both free and surely worth a look. And don't forget O2 itself.
PuFu 4600 Posted February 19, 2012 from my experience: 3ds max - 3500USD (5000 USD together with Mudbox and XSI). Free for students Maya - 3500USD (5000 USD together with Mudbox and XSI). Free for stundents Modo - 900USD Blender - Free Those are the main software that this community uses. If you don't own a commercial license for any of the above, and money doesn't push you out of the house, i would go with blender. It can do everything than the big buck software can, but for free. Wings3D is WAY below Blender in terms of tools and functions. PS: I own a personal commercial license for 3ds max 2012, plus all the non-commercial(educational) licenses for Autodesk products for the next 3 years as a (former)student. But i am earning my living out of 3ds max, otherwise, if i were to use a software just for hobby addon making, i would have gone blender without blinking once.
