Cumboy missions

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I hope everyone who downloaded my mission 'Hunter-Killer' thought it was ok....

However it is on to new things,

I'm itching to start a new mission and I was just wondering if there was anything anyone particularly wants to see done in a mission, whether it has never been done or only glanced upon several times.

I would appreciate any feedback from anyone with useful input as I feel a bit of market research never hurt anyone!

Thanks all!

Something with 'gathering intel' behind enemy lines. Then get out of there is something I have'nt seen yet. This should be a 1-man blackop-mission during late evening/night/early morning ofcourse.

In 'gathering intel' I mean spotting units, patrolls etc.

And when the player has extracted out of the area, he will then lead an assault into the same area.

As you can see, I love blackop-missions biggrin.gif

How about a mission where you play as a Chinook Gunner (or pilot, that way the player can choose), and you and your pilot have to evac civies or friendlies under heavy fire wow.gif

How about a mission where you hunt a saboteur by night with support of some choppers with their searchlight? I had this idea before, but I found it impossible to have the AI track the enemy with the chopper light. (not even an idea how to do it...)

Hehe,

Funnily enough Shadow, a mission I had going while I was doing 'Hunter-Killer' was 'Strike Swiftly 2' (from the original Cumboy mission 'Strike Swiftly'wink.gif....Behind enemy lines conducting reconnassaince and patrols over several days....

This will hopefully be released soon.....

However I think there is a black-op mission overload in OFP....this however will be far from the norm and as I am Cumboy you all know this will be true...

Great idea....

Yeah actually the light you see helos use in OFP is actually the landing light which is fixed and can't be slewed (like you see in police helos)....

The only way to track something is through the helos flightpath....

Still a top idea...I'll look into that one..

Me too. I like missions where I'm a part of a small squad.

Nice name.

How about a mission based on a real life one? Like Eagle Claw or Bravo Two Zero but with animations in em to reperesent the different parts of the film. Blackhawk down could be a good one too.

How about somekind of mission where u play a pilot who gets downed over enemy territory and has to navigate out of enemy territory wich is full of patrols and special forces looking for you. However none of that escape from prison crap in the similar 1985 campaign mission... and ofcourse no icon the map showing where u are or anything, old school compass style...

I like lone-wolf missions as long as i dont find "take base A,B,C and D and maybe tank depot 1,2,3 out all by yourself" in the objectives list...

Have a look at the last mission on Miles Teg GD's OFP missions page.

This sounds quite close to what I have in mind for my 'Behind Enemy Lines'-mod I'm going start work on ....as soon as I get WRPedit smile.gif

I like the idea as well. The crash location could be chosen randomly to make sure the mission doesn't get dull if you play it repeatedly, and you would have to determine your location by examining your environment, road signs etc.. Maybe have a couple of crash location coordinates built into the mission, and choose one of them randomly or through Param1 to have some degree of repeatability in case you failed and want to try again.

Put a couple of patrols on foot or in Jeeps that travel the roads, and it would be interesting enough, because you would actually have to be stealthy and can't just run cross-country trying to make it back to base.

I don't need SpecOps coming after me every time though, a squad of infantry against a downed pilot is usually plenty, especially if they get the drop on you. Also, if a patrol spots you, they could radio for reinforcements, so maybe after few minutes, a truck with another ten enemies would show up.

The 'BAT21/Behind Enemy Lines' idea is definitely going to be done by me, however not until I have the 'Resistance' addon which shouldn't be too long.

I would just like the added map size and of course the pistols. It will just make for a much better mission experience...trust me..

I'm going to try to make the BEL-mod as close as I can to the movie. So the crash-site will always be the same. I would'nt worry about the mod not being re-playable because of that. We all know how the AI reacts.

Hopefully someone will make me a Colt 1911 if BIS have'nt already. The will contain as many elements from the movie as possible (including the Adidas-sniper hehe) wink.gif

Hey Cumboy

I like all your missions so far, especially the flying ones. I've got 2 ideas for you:

1. I haven't noticed any Russian-based helicopter missions. I think a Russian chopper mission would be a nice change, perhaps something with several choppers inserting troops/providing support during a reasonably-sized infantry assault on a village say. Could have some arty falling, jets doing strafing runs maybe.

2. Assault helicopter attack on a FARP, like in Comanche-Havoc. Low level approach and shoot up a farp. Have to identify and knock out air defences and then destroy aircraft, vehicles, tents etc on the ground. Need to select the site carefully to allow for choppers to hide/pop up etc. Challenge is picking approach route, flying low to keep out of air defences, then manoeuvre to make attacks/lock on missiles etc.

Cheers

Smith

I'd like to see an entire campaign from the perspective of a pilot. Perhaps the war of 1985 from a black-hawk pilots perspective. Take the original BIS's campaign and wherever a chopper is used, re-design them into the pilot's perspective, add a few twists, and there you have it. It would be really cool.
