suchey 0 Posted June 5, 2002 Thought I would share this as it helped me with some joystick issues...theres a great little program called RB-Joy which allows you to program every button and every axis on any stick or controler you have hooked into your machine. Â SO if you wanna use a joystick for 1st person infantry movement, decrease the sensitivity on a throttle or program some controller buttons on a stick which is not normally programmable...go here: http://www.rbsoft.de/RB-Joy/rb-joy.html and try this sucker out...I would imagine that some people having trouble getting joysticks to work properly in OFP could program it with this and make it work (provided the stick works ok in windows) since it can make joysticks work even in games which don't support them natively...anyway, your mileage may vary...hope it helps some people out. cpl_BOB 0 Posted June 5, 2002 what annoys me is the sensitivity of the PLANES axis,, press slighlty to bank and you spin wildly out of control.... its impossible to fly planes in ofp
shadow 6 Posted June 5, 2002 I think the planes' sensitivity are fine I adjust the sensitivity on the axes of my: Cougar
amos m 0 Posted June 6, 2002 Do saitek etc. make them sort of joysticks in force feedback?

Most of them suck and not many of them are actually 'force-feedback'. Meaning; many are 'called' forcefeedback because they shake, not a motor countering your force on the stick. I go for authenticity and quality over FF. If you try out a TM Cougar you will notice the tight springs and that FF isn't really necesary. Only downside I can think of when it comes to the Cougar must be the prizing....but then again I've already bought it and I dont' pay the retail-price
Guest Titanium Posted June 6, 2002 I don't use a joystick, but from people I know who have them, they say its very sensitive. It's good for manuevering, but when it comes to dogfighting and things of that sort, just aiming, can be difficult.

Now that I have XP I have to exit and reboot with a dos startup disk just to program and load templates because XP doesn't allow programing through the keyboard port. Want a couger, but man what would that be? around $500Cdn. COLINMAN
suchey 0 Posted June 7, 2002 Dayglow...as long as your buttons register in windows...you can use the program I mentioned above to program all the buttons and axis on your CH Pro Throttle and do away with the boot disk and template loads. Might make things a bit easier for ya. I use it to program the CH Throttle I have (it is usb, but that shouldnt make a difference)
dayglow 2 Posted June 7, 2002 The pro throttle is basically a keyboard and has a port for the keyboard port and the gameport. I can program, say a-z or whatever into the buttons, then if the game uses a keysetup screen then I can reassign all the keys in the game to the buttons, but That's not the best option. Unfortunalty the pro throttle uses the keyboard port, so I'm stuck until I spring for the saitech or win the lotto and get a couger. COLINMAN
shadow 6 Posted June 7, 2002 hehe you might not want to hear this, but..... the Cougar works great in any OS that support USB hehe Oh! and it's the most precise stick'n'throttle I've ever put my hands on too The pots got a resolution of approx 1200. All other sticks got resolutions up to approx 450 But the best thing about it is the 'feeling'.....that coooooold steel. I'm still not used to that If you really want it, then I suggest you just save, save, save, save and save money. It's worth the price. it costs somewhere around 290usd
dayglow 2 Posted June 7, 2002 Yeah saving is an option, but there are so many upgrades I need. My A7V motherboard is at the end of its life as I need DDR memory, faster bus speeds etc for upgrades, my vid card should last for a while, a new cpu would be nice, upgrading sound would be cool, another bigger monitor is on the list...etc. Hard to prioritize. I find I only play F4 right now so I don't have to reprogram the throttle that much and imagine once LOCMAC is released that will be the main game. I"m kinda proud that my pro throttle is around 8 years old and still works like a charm, same with the stick. Really 8 years for some hardware is amazing. shadow 6 Posted June 8, 2002 Yeah, I know what you mean. I mainly use my Cougar in OFP and played IL2 a few times, but nothing serious. I'm waiting for LO-MAC too Looks promising yummmi
Kep Kelagin 1 Posted June 8, 2002 U guys got any links for that LOCMAC game? I love Falcon 4.0 too, but also looking for another good flightsim P.S. for flying choppers and planes ( and all other vehicles and walking around ) i use the Sidewinder Strategic Commander. It works good too, and u dont need your keyboard anymore for playing Only for typing, lol

Do you fly it at all? The new SP3 is amazing and they model the switches perfectly. A lot of buttons are mode specific like the real stick, so depending what radar mode you are in the button does different functions, just like the real jet. I've got them in my pro throttle, but a couger is much more powerful and would do it a lot better. I want my LOMAC with my A-10/SU-25 (sorry OFP, but this is one area that you suck in, the modelling of planes) COLINMAN
shadow 6 Posted June 9, 2002 Maybe I should give Falcon 4 SP3 a try then. Never seen it but I hear about it on the cougar forum and from the cougar dev-team all the time (I'm one of the Cougar beta-testers). I think I've got 7 firmware versions to now and only 2 are released
