dysta 10 Posted November 1, 2011 (edited) I just checked a news from one of a Chinese article about the pollution standard argument between the US and the China. Here's the short summery about this topic: (2011 November 11) Recent news from US embassy in Beijing, China. The air pollution anaylsis were made by the particle measurement, reported the pollution as "Hazardous", which is the highest pollution record accord to the US EPA standard. However, in Chinese Environment Protection department stated out that the pollution weren't that critical as the US embassy announced. Reported that the Chinese weather analysis as checked the air pollution and the result is "Fair".This announcements caused several Chinese netizens discussing about the exact problem of the pollution detection standard. In United States and other European countries that they're already using PM2.5 (Pollution Measure in 2.5 micrometers) as the standard of the detection. While most of the countries, including China, still using the PM10 as the standard. That cause several inaccurate and unequaled pollution measurement was made by different analysis. The Embassy reported Beijing in hazardous pollution level based on the EPA standard with PM2.5 measurement; While Chinese Weather Observation reported as fair based on the PM10 measurement. Actually there's some people who live in China decide to use their own bought particle analysis devices to check the pollution instead of according the official weather and pollution report, and most of the result weren't a pretty case at all. The Chinese official weather observation was included the PM2.5 measurement long years ago, and started several test runs in many major cities. However there's none of an official report were made base on the new standard, mostly because the new report will be too risky to interrupt several city developments and industrial operations, and also too seriously difficult to take care of. After this news were announced, the Chinese official also immediately responded that they speeding up the procedure to tighten up the air pollution standard. It's highly possible to based on the PM2.5 standard and will possibly spreading the measurement to the whole mainland. Beagle 684 Posted November 1, 2011 Air pollution is a huge problem in chinas big citiesNot only in China but also in most 1 million inhabitants cities in Germany. Just go out and smell some "Berliner Luft" on a cold winter day. The whole inner city stinks due to no circulation.

And for mainland china, just multiple by 10 times in big city, now, add in the "government" who's best ability is to lie and you will get a pretty good idea how hard to change that:p
dysta 10 Posted November 1, 2011 You do know that Hong Kong is already pretty ruined by air pollution don't you? And for mainland china, just multiple by 10 times in big city, now, add in the "government" who's best ability is to lie and you will get a pretty good idea how hard to change that:p I don't have any choice to do when these "two-point-fives" spreading all around the world. Just I am confused is, the more we're trying to deal with the air pollution, the smaller size the pollution unit is... some said that they even need to take care of more pollutions by adding PM1. See? We're never able to say the China is as clean as the EPA standard required.
