Manhattan - Chedaki Leader

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

[spoilerS]

I have a serious problem with Manhattan Mission after destroying the Chedaki Camp. Cooper has reported that there is no body of the leader and i've got info to search for him.

I've searched the woods around for about half an hour, it's already dark in the mission (is it possible to faster the time more than x4, or to sleep in base or styh?) no leader can be found. Where should I look for him?

[MORE SERIOUS SPOILERS]

The civilians won't talk to me, because i didn't listen to the priest, Dr Sova is dead so what should i do now? Is it possible to look for him in the smaller camps, wich i found earlier?

've read a simmiliar thread on this forum, but no answer there could help me. I wonder if you have any new tips about it?

Best Regards,

Lato

The leader is not switching places anymore in that point so passing time will not bring him to you.

Where should I look for him?

From my private walkthrough tips:

Task: Insurgent leader: One of the places where leader can be found is at GPS COORS 084049. Leader is just a normal looking soldier with green camouflage top, black & white camouflage bottom, khaki cap in the head, black boots and cloves. He is either alive in the forest surrounding the enemy main camp, rolling in the ground wounded near the weapon smugglers or dead inside the enemy main camp. According to one report his body may also be found blasted inside fortification textures. Search with patience by pointing all bodies and if no green Search body appears then just scroll your mousewheel and choose Hide body so you do not search all the bodies multiple times. If you find him still alive, there is no other way than to eliminate him to get the documents which is one of the two evidences. The leaders body also sometimes has a pretty good weapon with it, if you need one. If you still can't find him, use action menu for one razor team member to order him to search the leader or the body and follow that member when he starts to run there.

The civilians won't talk to me, because i didn't listen to the priest, Dr Sova is dead so what should i do now?

Dr. Sova can't be saved. I have waited around him and he just spawns to a tree hanged no matter what you do or say. Also 3 CDF military polices will spawn around the house. I have cut down the three before he is hanged but he will be hanged floating in air too. I have also parked vehicles around the house to prevent CDF military police to spawn there, but they will spawn inside and over my vehicles. Very lame. Probably pointless to report it as a bug, but maybe I will some day.

Is it possible to look for him in the smaller camps, wich i found earlier?
I have never seen Insurgent Leader in any of 6 sentry camps, but looking anywhere is ofcourse possible, but waste of time.

BTW. Using spoiler tags here on OFFICIAL MISSIONS subforum is not required. Anywhere else they are required.

When Insurgent Leader Nikitin is alive or wounded, you need to find him manually. Sometimes he goes to meet weapon smuggler (with white Coytota pickup) on road side who bring weapons to insurgent main camp.

If insurgent leader Nikitin has been killed, but you have not noticed that or body is not easily find, you can order one of the Razors to find him even when his body is quite far away from where you start:

Press F2 or F3 or F4

Press 6

Press 3 Search body

Razor Team member should now start to run where Nikitins body is and stop there.

I have always found him dead in the main camp after calling artillery strike, I immediately find him because there are huge pools of blood around him.

Oddly enough, from some patches to now the main camp is always near that dam to the north, while with earlier versions it varied its position.

About leader:

I saw Leader traveling in blue Skoda car in my last two playthrough. If he was not at base and alive he arrived sooner or later. One time i got him hidden in bush near base before i even touched base itself.

I'm not sure, but I think the main camp has been permamently moved to Popeda Dam location because the other location was too close to Escort Laushina objective location resulting CDF battle helicopter to spot, attack and annihilate Chedaki main camp before landing to pick up Lagushina.

Intresting info. So he must have a fixed location where he starts his drive just like the weapon smugglers, Lagushina and Valentina start their drive too when this mission starts.

Good to know, then it was not my impression that it was always there.

I found Manhatten to be really quite buggy since I have played it (on my third attempt so far starting the campaign from scratch). Using Combined Ops, BAF and 1.60.

Last run through, I found the camp but I had lost my artillery call in the comms menu.

Other weirdness - when I first started playing Arma2 (I recently brought it from gamersgate) I could speak to civilians, but now with CO and 1.60 patch there is no menu to select to speak to anyone. Is this as intended, or a bug?

Thanks.

I found Manhatten to be really quite buggy since I have played it (on my third attempt so far starting the campaign from scratch). Using Combined Ops, BAF and 1.60.

Not helpful at all if you cannot specify what is buggy. I have also completed Harvest Red campaign about 4 times between patches 1.54-1.60 and with 1.60 even complicated Manhattan scripting is working better than ever with many infamous Mahattan bugs fixed.

Last run through, I found the camp but I had lost my artillery call in the comms menu.

There is no proof that this is real bug anymore. I can find two other possible reasons to speculate this:

A) Artillery battery is located in area surrounded of patrolling enemies who may possibly attack and destroy it. When you activate artillery you will see circle to show where artillery base it.

B) If artillery support call is interrupted by clicking in wrong place or opening/closing map in wrong time. It may cancel it permanently.

I always advice to use artillery as early as possible in the mission. You start by going inside FOB Manhattan, use it before you leave that place for the first time.

Anyway artillery in inaccurate and not crucial for mission success. Load your vehicle with Javelins and SMAWs instead that are available in FOB Manhattan armory. Climb to a hill northwest of enemy base and shoot them from a distance. Very easy even with hardest diffuculty. Alternatively you can use UAV missiles to destroy armor (not easy), go to GPS COORDS 116055 if you want to borrow CDF BMP-2 or rely on Boomerang APC-unit to assist you or any combination of those.

Other weirdness - when I first started playing Arma2 (I recently brought it from gamersgate) I could speak to civilians, but now with CO and 1.60 patch there is no menu to select to speak to anyone. Is this as intended, or a bug?

It may be a bug http://dev-heaven.net/issues/18165 or http://dev-heaven.net/issues/14252

or it is intended behaviour; sometimes if you do something in another order some character refuse to talk because that information is not important for you anymore, but if it is a bug, the least you can do about it is to vote for it.

I'm having the same problem as Lato. The ChDKZ boss is not at the camp and Cooper has radioed as such to Shaftoe. Hansu's suggestion about having teammates find him through search function is a dud because there are no command to that effect. 084/049 is devoid of life and i don't actually know where the smugglers car is because friendly AI took him out while is was doing other things. Also do bodies disappear after time because I found the base purely by accident when flying in StarForce 21. I gave it a good burst from the M134 to dissuade them from fireing any more Strela's. If i somehow maged to get him with my minigun, would his body have dissappeared in the time it took me to regroup and get back to camp? Please, can ayone help me? Finding him is all i need to finish Manhatten.

Function is enabled after Insurgent leader is dead. So if you don't have it, the leader is still alive somewhere in about 2km radius of the camp. I have never seen him go far from it or escape.

He once was laying down in his belly on medical tent too. Sometimes you can find him hiding in the forest nearby too.

i don't actually know where the smugglers car is because friendly AI took him out while is was doing other things.

Smugglers can drive all the way to the northwest edge of the map. Beyond Vybor airbort. I once found them there, out of gas. But the fact that your frindly AI killed smuggers probably means they are closer. Maybe in the road south of Gvozdo. The car is white Coyota pickup with sparetyre in the back.

No and no. Bodies will not disappear no matter how long you wait.

If you get desperate, share your savegame to me and I search him and the smuggler car and give coordinates to you.

Is this intel solid for older versions? using version 1.60. He is the last thing remaining and its very infuriating that I cannot locate him. Main camp I schwhacked with UAV (which got toast btw) and the rest with chopper after killing Maddox for whistling dixxie. Oh, and Shaftoe dies in Manhattan due to un-natural causes....
