NoRailgunner 0 Posted July 4, 2011 - 1000lb bombs need a lot of heat before they explode - the plane/jet is still flying = (cold) airstream (the AA fragment rounds are destroying most vital parts of an aircraft, fire is secondary) - pilot/system can drop bombs/ammunitions - do bombs explode if they are not armed or fuze is not damaged? Damage/explosion system should be imho less fuel and ammo driven but more detailed component-driven. Guess that some players will be annoyed with an realistic damage system where less stuff is exploding or burning like in a Michael Bay action movie. Those secondary car explosions are a joke or a bad homage.

NoRailgunner 0 Posted July 4, 2011 bad example is bad ;) I would like to see a better damage system eg more structural/detailed damage like in DCS or Steelbeasts. This all-in-one burning/exploding object/model that morphs into one wreck is too simple and "ancient" for a modern/futuristic combat sim. A3 needs a damage system that is more believable and less basic/rudimentary mixed with arcady sfx.
b00ce 160 Posted July 4, 2011 I never said the jet was flying. Anyways, good luck with that. There's being ambitious, and there's being unrealistic.
wipman 1 Posted July 5, 2011 Hi, most of the modern helicopters don't burn when they crash, even after being hit by an AA missile like a Strela, small arms fire or AA fire of calibers between the 23mm to 35mm; but the planes use to burn when they crash like a 85% of the times. I think that the choppers should have like four crashed models that the game randomize wich to use and also randomize the number of deads/injured on the cargo and crew, taking the speed and angle on the crash moment as main values. About the tanks and over all APCs... they use to catch fire but is rare that they explode, that only happens like a 15% of the times and mostly because a 500kg bomb or missile has impacted by upside on 'em. They should have true armour values and the sensible parts modeled as separate objects from the hull, each ERA pannel should be a separate model too and work as they do IRL so only few will blow up arround the impact area causing a minor damage of like a 0'4 to the total hull, without affect any other component; just like IRL.
