Kyrex 0 Posted May 23, 2002 I bought the euro version of OFP when it first came out. After several months of being too busy to play, I just re-installed it a few days ago. Overall, multplayers (especially with the new MP test) works just fine. But a few times, I have joined servers and then I start seeing the "original games do not fade" message, and shortly after that, I lose the session. Is it possible that someone has generated a cd key - my cd key ... and I am joining a server where that person is playing? It is starting to get annoying...and I don't want people thinking I pirated the game. I have the manual and the DVD-style case if you need me to prove I own it. theavonlady 2 Posted May 23, 2002 Did you install any no-CD patch or are you running any trainer program (even if it only works for SP missions)?
Mister Frag 0 Posted May 23, 2002 The message could also appear if you get disconnect from a server, and a ghost player remains in the game. When you reconnect, the server is going to see a duplicate ID.
Kyrex 0 Posted May 23, 2002 Nope, nope and nope. The only 'unofficial' thing installed is the user-created maps most servers run. And the message appears the first time I join a server. I have also used the OFP Check program before installing updates, and checked the logs of the updates. All seems fine. =/
Placebo 31 Posted May 23, 2002 Ok long shot this I admit but...... Have you installed in the exact same location as previously? Using the same cd-key over a LAN results in fade kicking in even though both are using a retail CD. What happens if in the same registry there are two different installations of Opf both with the same CD-Key?
Kyrex 0 Posted May 23, 2002 I dunno, but that's not the case here, because currently I'm the only workstation on my network and I recently reformatted. ;) This is the first time flashpoint has been installed in the current system.
theavonlady 2 Posted May 23, 2002 Did you follow the suggestions in The FAQ item I mentioned?

It will point to the most recent location that OFP has been installed to.
ALDEGA 0 Posted May 23, 2002 I think he meant that, when you install the game on two pc's on a LAN with the same disc and installation key, then it would give the fade warning when you try to play with those two pc's on a lan game. Eventhough you may have two original cdroms.

Placebo 31 Posted May 24, 2002 haXor I've been moderating these forums a long, long time, generally I get an inkling if someone is trying to fool us or not, I don't think that's the case with Kyrex, I could be wrong, it's been known to happen, but for now I think I'll reserve judgment

kojak_2002 0 Posted June 1, 2002 You mean to say that, in order to play OFP on a LAN, you need a copy per PC? Why is that? Why can't I just use one copy in my house? My LAN back home has 3 PCs so I'd need to spend 70 quid? Hmm... no thanks!! Christ, I never had these problems with Quake 3 or Sudden Strike etc etc. I was getting the self-same "Original Games do not fade" message too, but I didn't *notice* any degradation in the gameplay. Oh yeah before any smart arses kick up, the number next to bar code on my OFP CD case is POPFCDUK03. L8r Kojak
