ionuttzu 10 Posted May 14, 2011 I really have no idea how to fix this. So on most servers that I play on (Domination co-op) I get HORRIBLE desyncing. Players and NPC's teleporting all over the place, it's really making MP unplayable to me. I use cable so no need for replies that I need to change x port on my router. ubermachtig 0 Posted May 14, 2011 Could you give us some additional information regarding your internet connection? Run this test: http://www.speedtest.net/ Switch all the other internet-related programs off and report the speeds you're getting
ionuttzu 10 Posted May 14, 2011 (edited) Okay tried to do to it from my city (Iasi, Romania) all the way to Great Britain where most severs are hosted in. Oh yeah and I join servers where I have like 50-80 ping and I still desync. So I don't think posting my internet speed helps with anything. ubermachtig 0 Posted May 14, 2011 I'd have to say, your speeds are quite decent. I live in The Netherlands, and only have a 8MB/s download and 1Mb/s upload speed. However, my ping is rated at 22ms. My plain luck is probably that the distance from The Netherlands to the ingame servers (Mostly UK or Germany) is relatively close, which results in a decent amount of ping. Note, however, that it is not always the client to blame. When playing on the =WASP= server, I am experiencing quite severe lag, but when I play on the HotShots server (which is unfortunately under attack by hackers) my speeds are much better with the same amount of slots. A few advices: Leave other internet-requiring applications off (Like MSN, Steam, X fire, Browsers, IRC clients) Don't download while playing a game (probably obvious) Make sure that you are playing on a server relatively close to you. European servers will probably work best for you, but don't even mention playing on Australian ones Alternatively, you can open up ports and switch off firewalls. These options come, of course, with a risk and the potential gain is relatively low as well. I would not recommend doing so. PortForward.com has great instructions to open ports for any specific router, might check that one out. I emphasize again, do this at your own responsibillity. ionuttzu 10 Posted May 14, 2011 Well I don't use a router so that ain't gonna help. And as I said I play on servers where I get ping below 100. But I'll try closing anything else than Steam (I bought it on Steam). Also what did you say about switching off firewalls? I thought that turning it on makes the connection better and all that. .kju 3245 Posted May 14, 2011 You should check your packet loss. A high speed connection alone does not help if too many packets get lost along the way.
ionuttzu 10 Posted May 14, 2011 And how can I check that?
.kju 3245 Posted May 14, 2011 how to check packet loss :)
ionuttzu 10 Posted May 14, 2011 0% loss, so there's no packet loss.
PuFu 4600 Posted May 14, 2011 does it happen only with domination? or any other mission?
ionuttzu 10 Posted May 14, 2011 Hmm well I usually play Domination. When I tried a CTI game (or whatever the mod is called where there are only players and no NPC's) there was barely any lag.
PuFu 4600 Posted May 14, 2011 try playing on any other coop mission than domination (KH for instance - GB server - no domination on it) and post again. i assume the issue is not on your side.
ionuttzu 10 Posted May 14, 2011 I played on an Insurgency server, it played nicely. Then I went on the TAW Domi server to try it, mild lag. A few minutes of playing and the server was hacked too
ionuttzu 10 Posted May 16, 2011 (edited) Well any other suggestion? I'm still desyncing on most servers. And by that I mean that I get yellow chain and sometimes even red chain, but rarely. Edited May 16, 2011 by ionuttzu
