License Agreements for Modding Teams to Gain Access to BIS Assets

Recommended Posts

I wanted to start a thread to begin a discussion with BI on how to go about setting up license agreements between BI and mod teams or individuals to allow them access to Arma 2 and Operation Arrowhead content in an editable form.

In a recent post by the Project Reality team (seen here) they mention they made an agreement with BI to gain access to fully editable assets from the BAF content. I am curious to hear from BI as to how other mod teams in this community can pursue similar ventures to acquire assets that they may be interested in using for their own modifications for the community.

Agreements like this, if available to all of us in the modding community, can be a great way to get more varied content out to the community (instead of 3,000 reskins of the same models) and provides new addon makers and experienced alike great resources to use as reference when creating their own, new addons.

I'm open to discussion and opinions on the issue from those in the modding community and am curious to see what steps we can take to move this process forward to help grow and strengthen the modding community even more.

Thanks,

Ardvarkdb

usually it's best start with some well though out email sent to me or any senior staff :)

you know as well as i do that even a well written e-mail can only get you as much as what is already available - granted the purpose being an outside 3rd party plug-in ;)

Even smaller requests than PR's, such as further information and/or about content already available in default game (read non-DLC, non transferable) have been put on hold until further notice - with no foreseeable direct answer (at least that is my experience here).

SO, where is the catch?

it's easier to prepare the bigger requests than smaller usually as there is way less of them :)...

so that's the catch ...
