cr4wl3r0 10 Posted April 7, 2011 Hello, I want to upgrade my system by adding an ssd drive and moving arma 2 Co directory into it. Off course i own game legal dvds, I want to know if doing so without reinstalling the game would trigger the fade copy protection. Is it necessary to reinstall the game for having the game directory in another drive ? Thank you Bohemia Interactive for this amazing simulation !! :yay: cr4wl3r0
CaptainBravo 0 Posted April 7, 2011 I advise not. When you install game, it goes into the system registry and quite possibly files and locations only known to the game. So better off with clean reinstall.
NeMeSiS 11 Posted April 7, 2011 I did it once, i just editted the paths in the registry manually.
-)rStrangelove 0 Posted April 8, 2011 I'm with CaptainBravo here. No need to fiddle around with anything, clean reinstall is a no brainer.
Hud Dorph 22 Posted April 8, 2011 If you do it, and dont know how to edit the registry to the new path, im sure you will get problems installing updates.
dmarkwick 261 Posted April 8, 2011 If you know how to edit the registry safely, it's easy to migrate your existing install to SSD, it's what I did a few months back.
cr4wl3r0 10 Posted April 8, 2011 thank you all for your interest another noob question: if I want to perform a clean reinstall of the game, on the same system except it has an ssd added on it, is it necessary to deactivate/reactivate my legal copy of the game ? I' m a bit worried of loosing my available activations. Anyone knows where I can purchase the reinforcements dvd in Italy ? Thank you !!
