IceFire 0 Posted May 17, 2002 I read a thread where people were asking how others liked the new netcode. I thought it was going to come out when resistance comes out.

Mister Frag 0 Posted May 17, 2002 An Alpha release is a very early release with lots of known bugs and missing features. A Beta release is essentially feature-complete, but it still has a few known bugs. A Release Candidate is something that the developers feel is something that can be given to manufacturing for an official release and making CDs etc. When a product is given to manufacturing, the code goes 'Gold'. IceFire 0 Posted May 17, 2002 Oh, I always heard the term of something that is gold. I always thought that it meant that the game is an anniversary edition from when it was first officially released. When does the gold version come out?
Guest Posted May 17, 2002 'Gold' is not a version per se, but when they start pressing the CD. So when they will say Resistance has gone gold means that they have started making the CDs. There are sometimes, if a game have been successful, a 'gold' edition or 'game of the year' edition or whatever but those are just marketing names.
