farcar 10 Posted March 20, 2011 I'm a OA newbie. I figured that a fun way to cut my teeth would be to set up random combat scenarios using the 'My Mission' wizard. Only problem is that I don't want to be the squad leader. Is there any way I can assign this role to the AI? At this stage, I'd like to follow orders rather than have to issue them. :) Thanks, if anyone can assist.
Joe98 90 Posted March 20, 2011 Select any soldier. For example select soldier number 2. In the menu you will see "Switch to soldier number 2". If you want to switch back to being the leader hit Spacebar and one of the menu items is "Switch to leader". - ---------- Post added at 09:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:32 AM ---------- Also, before commmencing the mission, in the set up screen is the option to Edit. Select this, and it takes you to the map. You can now move the icons: Entry, Enemy Outpost and Exit. -
farcar 10 Posted March 20, 2011 Perfect answer, thanks! I was looking for an option in the wizard rather than in-game...

I can switch to another soldier as described, but when I do, the leader just stands there. He won't move, issue any orders, or acknowledge any of the random missions that come across the radio. Is this just a limitation of the mission wizard, or am I doing something wrong? Cheers.
jakerod 254 Posted March 21, 2011 Limitation I believe.
farcar 10 Posted March 22, 2011 Thanks for letting me know. Maybe Bohemia have noted this for future enhancement.
Joe98 90 Posted March 22, 2011 Last night my 5 man squad attacked a 3 man enemy position. I had team blue move to the left and start firing. Myself and team red moved into a small gully. The plan was to throw grenades and then assault. I quickly switched places with a member of team blue which meant I could direct their fire better. I was pleased the new leader did not take over. I quickly switched back to the leader and completed the mission. Team blue did a good job attracting the enemy attention but one was killed. One member of team red was wounded when his grenade bounced off a tree and back in his direction! -
flattermann 12 Posted March 23, 2011 if you want your leader to move after you switched away from him, try giving your whole squad an order (e.g. move) before the switch. IDK if this works though
