IceFire 0 Posted May 13, 2002 What about these Mad Max movies? And road warrior?? I keep hearing about these movies as they are connected. But I do not see a resemblence in the name. Can anyone give me any info on these? I have heard alot about this, but it never makes any sense.
Major Fubar 0 Posted May 13, 2002 Battlefield earth is a really bad sci-fi movie from about 2 years ago, starring John Travolta. I suggest you watch it, if you realise in advance how bad it is, it is quite a good laugh. Mad Max is a classic Australian action/near future movie. I think Mad Max (or it's sequel) was released in the US as Road Warrior.

The second was called "Mad Max 2: The road warrior" and came 1981. The third is "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome" and it came in 1985. As for "Battlefield Earth", well, I found it interesting. As it is based in ideas from Scientology. As a movie, it wasn't that great. But if you see past it and start thinking about the concept as such, its a bit more entertaining. For me atleast. Major Fubar 0 Posted May 13, 2002 If you like the concept of cavemen level humans defeating a technologically superior race using thousand-year-old jetfighters after just 1 week in a training sim, then Battlefield Earth is the movie for you! Oh, and if you want to hear the phrase "Leverage!" used 100 times, and John Travolta laughing maniacally like a crazed pantomime actor! Australian movie reviewer David Straton had the best review of it. After his fellow critic described it as worst movie of the year, he commented  in an outraged tone "Of the year?"... To be fair, I watched this movie with some friends, over a few beers, and after an initial period of thinking what crap it was, I began to enjoy just how truly poor it was and laughed my ass off. InRange 1 Posted May 13, 2002 They dubbed Mel Gibson's voice in the original Mad Max cause the American audience didn't understand his Aussie accent. About Battlefield Earth: I heard it was a really crap movie. It won a lot of Razzie awards too. But, I intend to rent it one of these days to see if it's really that bad and maybe have a good laugh. Major Fubar 0 Posted May 13, 2002 Trust me InRange, have a few beers, get some friends together, and get set for some serious gut-laughs! Travolta's performance, and the storyline, are a true crackup!
InRange 1 Posted May 13, 2002 To be honest, the picture of John Travolta with dreadlocks already cracked me up
R. Gerschwarzenge 0 Posted May 13, 2002 I must see Battlefield: Earth. I'm a big fan of b-movies.
Ex-RoNiN 0 Posted May 13, 2002 Battlefield:Earth is pathetic propaganda for those Scientology weirdoes.

I always felt Mad Max had an almost comedic tone at points because of the rather poorly dubbed voices. I recently purchased the new 'Special Edition' DVD, and they restored the original soundtrack. First..the accents are fairly mild and I think they should have left well enough alone. Secondly..it's a MUCH better movie with the proper voices. Now..Battlefield Earth. I read the book when I was about 13, and thought it was great. Course, at the time I had no idea what scientology is. Do some reading at Operation:: Clambake and you'll see why I'll never spend a cent to see this movie. Scientology is truly evil, and B:E is both a horrid movie and also an extension of Hubbard's twisted beliefs.
madmike 0 Posted May 13, 2002 mad max 2: Road warrior is an amazing film. I bought it on dvd becuase they havent shown it on tv for ages. I still havent seen all of mad max but from what I've read, it got a bad review becuase it was ahead of its time. I liked what I saw though. Beyond the thunderdome is crap but I havent seen it for about 7 years so it might grow on me. I read on a fan site that there is a script for a 4th mad max film but was finnished about 7 years ago and filming hasn't started yet also mel Gibson would star in it
