OA Stryker MC

Okay, is searched for it, maybe put in the wrong words but i couldnt find anything.

does any1 know if the Stryker MC vehicle is compatible with the artillery module in any way shape or form?? if so what magazines i gotta load into it??

that and any tips on getting AI to unpack and assemble an M252 mortar with a trigger or something....as well as disassembling it and packing it back up?

im a mortard what can i say. any help would be great

The Stryker MC does not actually shoot mortars. It's just like the SCUD in the sense that it's decorative.

My advice to you my friend is ACE.

MC Stryker works there and AI use Crew served weapons.

The stryker MC does have a working mortar. I used it last night from gunner seat and rounds did impact. Works with the artillery computer on the action menu. Could not make it work with arty module though.

yeah i was havin the same issue. oh well. ORBAT says a stryker company has 2 dismounted 81mm's anyway, guess i could use them with the arty module.

time to rain down hell and destruction on some taki's who have lee enfields!

The Stryker MCV can be made compatible with the (Arma2) artillery module with a tiny bit of scripting. You find an example mission as part of my bug report. By default it is not compatible because BIS forgot to register the ammo type as AI arty and compute a ballistics table for the 120mm round.

All you need to do take that example mission and remove the "sleep 30;" from the init.sqf to have the MCV fire an artillery mission.

For missions involving crew served weapons such as the AGS-30 and TOW launcher, my mission generator (PlannedAssault) generates the waypoints and includes scripts to assemble these weapons. You could generate and download such a mission, then change the mission or reuse the script to handle a mortar.

Just give it a go, and leave me a note on this forum if you need help. You can help me by sharing some insights on where to put a mortar team in support of a deliberate attack.

ill be sure to check that stuff out when i get off shift.

but as far as positioning a mortar team? really thats up to the Company level commander being they are a company level asset, meant to support the subordinate platoon maneuvering to destroy the enemy.

In my experience, youll never find them more than 100m away from the CO's command vehicle or the Company CP. in a maneuver environment (invading a country, Army vs. Army) you can find them by the CO, as theyre a section part of the HQ platoon.

Say in a platoon deliberate attack? the Company usually sets up a patrol base 2-3km out from their objective, for casualty collection, Command Point, a lay up point and Fire Support. you can find the mortars there.

In a COIN operation (Army vs Insurgency) you can find them on the units compound most of the time. However if the supported unit is out of its range, we usually have gunships for that.
