Flogger23m 2 Posted January 20, 2011 Going to be upgrading my PC soon. It struggles with ArmA 2 OA, and at the moment I only have enough for a CPU or video card upgrade, and maybe RAM. I have the following specs: GTX 260 Superclocked (not 216) AMD 9950BE 4GB PC2 6400 Vista/Win7 64 bit Earthwatts 500 Considering these specs, what should I upgrade first? CPU or video card? The CPU upgrade will be an AMD 955 most likely or another AM2+/3 socket CPU as I am not going to buy a new motherboard. I noticed the game also occasionally needs a few seconds to load the textures, especially in urban areas. I am guessing 2GB more RAM can help here? Outside of ArmA 2, I am looking to upgrade for Lock On Flaming Cliffs 2, Crysis 2, and likely IL-2 Cliffs of Dover.
sakura_chan 9 Posted January 20, 2011 I say go for the CPU, i have a much worse system than that and I don't have any texture pop-ups. I have a cheap gt220 and 3gb ram. CPU is what makes the difference as far as I can tell from my years with the ofp/arma series. I don't know what your end goal is (maybe 60 fps?) but AO shouldn't be struggling with that video card. maddogx 13 Posted January 20, 2011 Agreed. The video card is sufficient; upgrade the CPU.

-)rStrangelove 0 Posted January 20, 2011 Full 3D performance mode: varies - worst case TDP 182-200W for GTX 260 Core 216 AMD Phenom II X4 955 (4 Core Load) 236 Watts With a 500W PSU you're a bit on the weak side. GTX260 reviews say 550W is a minimum.
