Chavtheworld 10 Posted December 27, 2010 Hi there, new to the forums but I was a long time Forum member over at the Codemasters Forums during the development of Dragon Rising (I know, boo hiss), and after getting burned on that game and now having a decent gaming PC, I thought it was about time I got Arma II. Thing is, I can't decide whether to get Arma II or Operation Arrowhead. Any advice for someone new to Arma II? Do both games still get a reasonable amount of traffic on multiplayer? Any one better for single player missions/bugs? And which one do you guys prefer? Thanks a lot, and sorry if this has all been brought up before but I couldn't find it, although I probably didn't optimally use the search tool. Meh. :)
Grizzle 0 Posted December 27, 2010 Buy Combined Ops and get ArmA2 and OA in one shot. It's cheap and is the best way to guarantee you can play on the majority of servers if you're interested in MP. If you can only get one, get OA.
Chavtheworld 10 Posted December 27, 2010 I would love to get CO, but unfortunately I think you can only buy it in America or on Steam, and really I'd like a disc copy :( I'm thinking I might start with OA and try and find a copy of the original somewhere once I've spent some time with it, I mean it should only be about £6-8 for the original now. Thanks :)
PogMoThoin 10 Posted December 27, 2010 Combined Ops is special offer on Steam at the moment: http://store.steampowered.com/sub/4639/ Only drawback with Steam is that it seems to download the full game every time a patch is released, gets the patches later also. Myself I'd buy from sprocket, a little more expensive but less hassle: http://www.sprocketidea.com/joomla/index.php?page=shop.product_details&product_id=33&category_id=2&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=2 ---------- Post added at 20:32 ---------- Previous post was at 20:29 ---------- Heres combined Ops for $12.50 http://www.amazon.com/ArmA2-Combined-Operations-Game-Download/dp/B003UV8RRE/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1293481891&sr=8-4 Digital download, not retail, but I'm sure You'd get over that. Chavtheworld 10 Posted December 27, 2010 Thanks for your response, and for digging up CO on Amazon, but I just wish they did that version in Europe. Well, I mean I guess I could buy it off Amazon.com and pay in dollars and download butttt... Mah we shall see.
RavoC 10 Posted December 27, 2010 Just buy it from an online shop so you can get them both on disc.. or just CO.
flattermann 12 Posted December 27, 2010 i got CO on DVD here in Europe off Amazon, it's a 2 DVD set
ArmAriffic 10 Posted December 27, 2010 Yeah Combined Ops is not much more than OA, so get that
xxbbcc 6 Posted December 27, 2010 If I were you, I'd get Combined Ops from Sprocket and then burn it on a set of DVDs. Sprocket is BIS' store, so they get all the money not a retailer and you won't have to pay shipping. Combined ops contains both releases (really 1 game) - once you have CO, there's absolutely no point in running original Arma 2 anymore - CO (which runs the OA executable) handles everything. With Sprocket, you can pay in USD or Euros.
Simon C 0 Posted December 28, 2010 I would love to get CO, but unfortunately I think you can only buy it in America or on Steam, and really I'd like a disc copy :( I'm pretty sure I've seen it on disc in GAME and Gamestation here in the UK, but I may be mistaken. You can either buy both and merge them which essentially gives you CO (Just takes a little longer to setup) or buy CO from Sprocket and burn the files to disc as backup. Buying from Sprocket means the majority of the money goes to BIS, which is always nice to know.
