b00tsy 28 Posted December 23, 2010 (edited) Co8/SP Combined Operations Zargabad You and your team have been dropped off at a village near Zargabad. The city Zargabad is infested with militia forces and supported by the Takistan army with motorized and air patrols. Your job is to advance to the city and complete multiple objectives that you will receive along the way. At this moment there are 4 main objectives that you will have to complete: - Destroy the militia explosives stash - Kill the Imam of the central mosque (HVT) - Stop the opium export - locate and destroy the stolen BQM's (new) This mission is mostly created for the fun of urban combat where some objectives have been added to lead you through the city. It is a tough/challenging infantry mission probably most appealing to ex military people. I have kept this mission as low lag as possible, so no custom sounds or a zillion AI waypoints etc. The mission is designed for MP mode, but it can also be played in SP... it will be very tough in SP mode to keep your team alive though (try playing SP in MP mode so that the team will respawn). In MP mode You will respawn instantly on the spot you died (30 sec wait time). You can use your former dead body to rearm yourself (body deletes after a few minutes) or find a rearm point when you are low on ammo. Features: - Wound healing (bandages) in SP mode - Scripted AI patrols (fortified). AI will use the buildings for cover. - Combined Ops weapons and music - Mechanized, motorized and chopper patrols - Environment effects - Auto adjustment draw distance - Mixed skilled AI - Several rearm points in Zargabad - Gear is saved after respawn - Respawn at the spot you died. - Garbage collecting (deleting dead AI) First 22 minutes preview on youtube (SP in MP mode) HRCT9G25EmM Version 1.1 The mission had to much fog, removed it mostly. Version 1.2 - Added a new objective - Reduced the amount of AI a bit - Added customized weapons to AI (Militia will also use shotguns and uzi's) - Some civilians are hostile and may carry uzi's - Included the mission map for easy editing. d3lta 10 Posted December 24, 2010 Hi, Congratulations I liked this mission, but we needs tasks too. The fog makes the game more difficult, I like it. A lot of AIs for only 8 players and fog, resulting game play very difficult. A suggestion is create a Param to reduce AIs a bit.... Best regards Ps. sorry my english is not enough... neofit 65 Posted December 24, 2010 Any way to not have the dead AIs despawn? I haven't played this mission yet, but from my experience with other missions, despawning AIs kill the suspension of disbelief. Thanks.

Hiya, I haven't added official tasks to the map section, because there are only 3 objectives that speak for it self. Well there is one more objective, Try to not get killed to much :) The mission is intended to be realisticly difficult as far as thats possible with AI. Even though there are a lot of enemy AI's they will not all hunt you down. Most of them will stay at a general area and hide in buildings till your team is close enough. Only the choppers will follow you over a larger area. With the fog removed the mission is tough, but do-able. It is a matter of the tactics you use for a large part. If you go all rambo then you probably will get killed a lot. You really have to make use of the buildings for cover and work with your team to flank enemies etc. I played it in Vet mode yesterday and got killed just 5 times in the whole mission. If more people think it is to tough, I will reduce some of the AI or make more of them less skilled. :) ---------- Post added at 12:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:30 PM ---------- Any way to not have the dead AIs despawn? I haven't played this mission yet, but from my experience with other missions, despawning AIs kill the suspension of disbelief. Thanks. You mean persistant dead AI bodies? Sure I can do that, but I let them delete after a few minutes to keep it low lag, Zargabad is a pretty laggy place if you do not have a high end PC. The way it is now everybody can play it with a good FPS. I could tweak the timer a bit so that they delete after a longer period.
Cobra88 10 Posted December 24, 2010 Hi BOOtsy I played v 1 a few times and was always killed in the fog by an invisible APC gunner. V1.1 won't run for me Error No entry 'bin\config.bin/CfgWorlds.1.' I fixed it right away after noticing it. :) Did you run it with CO or OA? It will only run with the combined ops client.
Cobra88 10 Posted December 24, 2010 (edited) Ho Bootsy I am using CO with BAF & PMC with no mods for your mission. V1 worked fine apart from the fog as the Ai don't have fog from their view. ;) I have downloaded 3 times to make sure there is no corruption so i'm a bit lost. Have a Good Christmas Bootsy :) Regards Rick Edited December 24, 2010 by Cobra88
b00tsy 28 Posted December 25, 2010 Hi, It is working fine for me (see video above). It is the exact same mission, just removed the fog and saved it again. So not sure why it is not working for you. Merry xmas to you as well :)
Cobra88 10 Posted December 25, 2010 Hi BOOtsy Verified all my game cache files and it works fine :) sorry for the false alarm Regards Rick
b00tsy 28 Posted December 25, 2010 Glad it is working for you now. I should have suggested the cache check... that usually solves most issues :)
b00tsy 28 Posted December 28, 2010 I've updated the mission :) Version 1.2 - Added a new objective - Reduced the amount of AI a bit - Added customized weapons to AI (Militia will also use shotguns and uzi's) - Some civilians are hostile and may carry uzi's - Included the mission map for easy editing. PogMoThoin 10 Posted December 30, 2010 (edited) Two of us completed it in 1hr 1 min by the way, all objectives worked perfectly. Would be a great mission if it didn't lag so much. Its the Zargabad map, it always causes lag, we tend to avoid big missions on it for this reason. Our dedi server lagged too with so much stuff spawning which didn't help. The chopper gunships just flew around, didn't open fire once. Ammoboxes are lacking in good weapons, like the MK17's, M4's and M16's with better scopes like acogs (we don't like red dots and holo's). Any chance of porting it to Fallujah? :D Edited December 30, 2010 by PogMoThoin
b00tsy 28 Posted December 30, 2010 Yeah the choppers needs some more tweaking. If you don't shoot at the choppers then they will leave you alone most of the time even though it's scripted to attack when you are in the city area, will have a look at that. I tried to keep it as low lag as possible for that reason, other then the AI on the map there is nothing active that causes lag, it's indeed the map. I don't have any lag outside Zargabad myself, but in the city I do have a bit lower fps too. I always have low fps so it does not bother me that much :) I added limited available weapons to make it more challenging, I specially left out any launchers besides from the launchers the AT-riflemen are wearing. You can change the ammo boxes yourself easily if you prefer different weapons, I included the mission folder. I was thinking about downloading the fallujah map actually, not sure if I will use it for this mission, have to see the map first :) You finished it fast btw for only 2 people! Maybe it's not hard enough then?
