Diplomacy mod (If possible)

Im not sure how many of you are Civilization fans, though I think this idea would be appreaciated by most, and if it wasnt for the fact im only a beginner at scripting, I'd try to give it a go myself.

I think it would be a good idea to create a mod that allows the player to interact with various factions via UI, I

dont think its been suggested yet.

Just some ideas, think it's quite possible.

-------------------------------------------

*Request aid.

*Call a ceasefire. (With changing levels of trust when broken)

*Make peace. (Success depending on your 'honourability')

*Declare war. (Which changes their disposition towards you - effects future negotiations)

*Ally with a faction against another.

*AI ability to commence negotiations (popup). e.g call a ceasefire if losing, demand surrender if winning - with player

choices like Refuse, accept, or only under certian terms and conditions. AI ability to make peace/surrender/request assistance or ally against you with another faction.

*Defect to opfor. Defect to independant. Defect to Bluefor.

*Threats to opposing factions if their troops are within your 'borders'.

*Suggest factions make peace or declare war against another.

*Share resources. (With score penalties if they are KIA or damaged).

*The list could go on and on.

Anywho, I know it's basicly copying sidmiers work in Civ games, tho if it's a community mod, whats the harm..

Nope something like this wont fit into the game at all. The RTS-mode is already very cumbersome.

How can you say something like that ? Anything could fit to this game, from car racing to elephant masturbation contest.

And there's already some kind of RPG mod, I can't remember the exact name but I think the author's name is Senchi.

He did an outstanding work on the interaction with the local population and create a very atmospheric map for his project

It's not directly related to this request, but, YES, everything is possible in this game

I think it's a great idea, I would love to be able to use some of the features listed above.

But this request belongs to the addon request thread ;)

Ty :) Justice!, it really is the modding community that makes the game, i mean BI did a great job but its the fans that perfect it. You really can do anything you imagine, almost anyway.

Is this a mod-request, or you trying to get people to start making it with you?

If its just in the request phase, Then put it into the correct location.

As for me, Hmm, You would like need to have a setup like a large CTI setup, with all the factions. With a commander who can trade resources with friendlies, and setup diplomocy.

This idea would work much better as a persistant Singleplayer campaign, Than anything else.

Like a dialog of the map, and all friendly factions, and their bases/HQ's, you can click on the HQ and click like "trade resources", "break diplomacy" etc. Then some scripts make the enemies 'do' things (just as a 2d view, not actually AI) And see who can build the biggest faction.

Then if the player selects a location, and teleports there. He can be a part of the battle. Like an RTS mode mixed with a FPS mode?

It's a request (I thought this was the right section - my bad) though, although im a novice at scripting id like to help.

Im not sure making a campaign would work..? I mean the 2d view of the map then spawning into battle is an excellent idea!! I just dont think building the biggest faction 2d style would work as there's only so much content we have to work with e.g buildings and units.

I was thinking more of a UI that can be called which shows the factions disposition and options for diplomacy etc. An addon that runs scripts to effect the AIs behaviour.

Im really not 100%, im alittle out of my league
