Another good site is now....

Recommended Posts

Gamespot.com it seems has now restricted access to much of their content (reviews, screenshots, etc) to "gamespot complete" members only, where you are forced to fill out an application including your credit card in order to gain the membership.

I never liked IGN.com for this either, as they only let you check out 4-5 screenshots before asking you to do the same.

Is it just me or is the internet, which once was a great place to obtain reference to just about anything, becoming one big mall, designed to suck all the cash out of you by all conceivable means ? Not only do you now see a pop-up at just about every website you go to, but there are countless cookies in your Temp directory to track your movements as well. It's sad but true, it's becoming "Americanized".

Gamespot was a good service in my opinion as their reviews seemed quite fair, not to mention a great set of screenshots and game previews.

CNN.com started a premium service a short while ago too, where you cannot view any of their streaming videos unless you create a membership (for which you have to pay of course), so for videos I now go do MSNBC.COM, though I bet it's only a matter of time before they begin charging too.

Will a man have to walk around with a credit card whenever he needs to get some info from the net ? Sure is a good way to destroy it for what made it so great.

... Think I'll go to the good old public library. Perhaps I can dig up my membership card somewhere in this pile of *%#@.

Money sucks. Its grown into a virtue of the few. The world should use bartering more often.

On the other hand, if they expect us to pay for for their services, they have to pay us more first.................and then we'll simply keep it!

Well, we pay $40 (CAN) a month for a cable conection, I don't see why we should pay more for stuff on the net.

As soon as someone comes up with a free site that is as good or better than a pay site, the pay site will go out of business. Hell, or if everyone refused to pay for services, gamespot.com and the like would probably drop the extra fee crap.

It's too bad to see this kind of crap sprouting up on Kazaa now.

I just checked out the Gamespot site and wasn't to happy. All of the hundreds of previously free reviews and screenshots now cost money, what a load of crap! sad.gif

Screw gamespot, damn sellouts.

Well, any recommendations for a good gaming site dedicated to PC games? That is free?

The internet, once a highway for information that was once free, it now becoming capitalized. That is what capitalism is all about, making money off whatever you can.

I suppose the library is the only source for information that is free.

Or soon you will have to pay a membership fee to check out books at the library I suppose.

Then you must live in Bangaladesh.

$0.00000000000001 per hour X 24 hours per day X 365 days per year X 984 years = $0.0000000861984.

I'll pay you double just to bump up The FAQ's page count for just 50 years. tounge.gif
