Dont think there will be a winter version of Arma2, it is to specific for an entire game and if you think about it not realistic,

unless the game is based in Alaska, or maybe Siberia, or Antartica, or the North pole, thats why this game is moddable

so we can play how we like hence addons, and mods.

None of the islands you listed is comparable (quality, size, usability) to the BIS' ones

You could find addons for almost every other region and does it means that BIS should not create new islands?

Custom addons (except some of them) are very rare on servers. I have never seen any winter island on server list. DLC makes the addons popular. -In 99% DLC will be more popular and will have much better quality

Why do they have to be, you want to build missions on an winter island no? then this is what we got, take it or leave it.

I did a search because it was asked for winter islands and I can agree that it would be great if BIS did indeed have an or a few official winter islands maybe with a DLC.

You got to understand, Islands take time, you can ask any of the island makers that make islands we already have,

and for the type and quality island you desire namely a BIS made one, which I would be for as well, it would take longer,

of course they have the man power to do so but who knows.

Of course not, if they make them, then great, add your request in the suggestions thread and lets see what happens.

True, but in another way, what makes an addon/mod more popular is the feature and or need that is demanded of it,

if people want and dont have it and it is made basically a demand even if its not specifally shown then it would be popular.

ACE2 is popular because they did something no one else has and big at that, as well have a big team to do it, you get the idea.

DLC is great and all but personally I'd prefer a whole Arma 3 with these islands you speak of included.

I dont think its possible but when you guys make a request you need to be specifc, and with detail, and well int he correct thread.

If your in the general forum section just asking a random question for something you like,

it ends up turning into a general discussian that dont go nowhere.

So if you want something, and Im up for your ideas, I like winter myself, then post a thread in the sugesstions forums

with details of features youd liek to see, granted there would be quite a few folks interested.

I would be interested and if it does happen, then ausome if it dont then I cn always dream up some cool missions on the existing stuff,

I can go either way.

But post your thread over there and I'll support the idea, you have my vote.

If all we get is a 2x2km map, then please, don't go the DLC way for a winter theme. Make it a new game, the size and scope of OA. There is more to a proper winter theme than updated textures. We'd need completely new methods of travel (skis, snowmobiles), and new physics elements (slippery friction, ice, depth of surface, slowdown based on how you travel etc), new flora and animals, weather effects, and different sounds etc (+++++). Winter Thirsk is nice, but yeah, I have to agree it doesn't come close a full game map (like Chernarus or Takistan). Maybe it would plug into A2 just fine, similar to OA (making previous stuff still work). But for a proper winter theme, I need something more than bright textures. If the rest of the mechanics stays like the regular game, I don't get a winter theme, but a bright theme.
