MulleDK19 21 Posted November 8, 2010 (edited) Hello. I've had ARMA 2 uninstalled for some time due to disk space insufficiency. Today I installed ARMA 2 (Retail) along with OA (Sprocket). Combined Operation works just fine. Then I decided to buy BAF from Sprocket, and downloaded the installer. But after it's finished unpacking, Setup.exe throws a c++ runtime error. The usual "The application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way", or whatever. I've tried redownloading, and it's the same problem. I have copied the entire setup that was unpacked into Temp, and was wondering if there's a way I can manually install it? I have a BAF folder with an Addons inside it, etc., but I'm not sure if this should be installed as a mod (@BAF) or copied to the addons folder, and even more, what the shortcut should look like. Anyone know why the setup fails, or can give me any info of their folder structure? If it should be @BAF, etc. and how their BAF shortcut looks like. Thanks in advance. PS: These are the files the sprocket installer unpacked into temp: k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\k:\Sprocket\BAF\Data\ k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\ k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\air_d_baf.pbo k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\air_d_baf.pbo.bi.bisign k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\characters_d_baf.pbo k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\characters_d_baf.pbo.bi.bisign k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\characters_w_baf.pbo k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\characters_w_baf.pbo.bi.bisign k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\data_baf.pbo k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\data_baf.pbo.bi.bisign k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\dubbing_baf.pbo k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\dubbing_baf.pbo.bisign k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\dubbing_baf.pbo.bi.bisign k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\language_baf.pbo k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\language_baf.pbo.bi.bisign k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\languagemissions_baf.pbo k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\languagemissions_baf.pbo.bi.bisign k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\missions_baf.pbo k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\missions_baf.pbo.bi.bisign k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\shapur_baf.pbo k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\shapur_baf.pbo.bi.bisign k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\sounds_baf.pbo k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\sounds_baf.pbo.bi.bisign k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\tracked_d_baf.pbo k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\tracked_d_baf.pbo.bi.bisign k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\tracked_w_baf.pbo k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\tracked_w_baf.pbo.bi.bisign k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\weapons_baf.pbo k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\weapons_baf.pbo.bi.bisign k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\wheeled_d_baf.pbo k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\wheeled_d_baf.pbo.bi.bisign k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\wheeled_w_baf.pbo k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\Addons\wheeled_w_baf.pbo.bi.bisign k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\desktop.ico k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\mod.cpp k:\Sprocket\BAF\BAF\mod.paa k:\Sprocket\BAF\Data\bis.url k:\Sprocket\BAF\Data\bitmap1.bmp k:\Sprocket\BAF\Data\bitmap2.bmp k:\Sprocket\BAF\Data\bitmap3.bmp k:\Sprocket\BAF\Data\bitmap4.bmp k:\Sprocket\BAF\Data\bitmap5.bmp k:\Sprocket\BAF\Data\bitmap6.bmp k:\Sprocket\BAF\Data\bitmap7.bmp k:\Sprocket\BAF\Data\bitmap8.bmp k:\Sprocket\BAF\Data\license k:\Sprocket\BAF\Data\setupWelcome.bmp k:\Sprocket\BAF\ImpulseOverlay.dll k:\Sprocket\BAF\ImpulseReactor.dll k:\Sprocket\BAF\ReactorActivate.exe k:\Sprocket\BAF\readme.txt k:\Sprocket\BAF\setup.bmp k:\Sprocket\BAF\setup.crc k:\Sprocket\BAF\setup.csv k:\Sprocket\BAF\setup.dat k:\Sprocket\BAF\setup.exe k:\Sprocket\BAF\Uninstall.csv k:\Sprocket\BAF\UnInstall.exe The first time the setup ran, it asked me to activate, and I did, then it said "Loading", and crashed. MulleDK19 21 Posted November 8, 2010 (edited) Do you have the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable updated??You should have the 2010 version through Windows Update Yes. I have everything. Edit: Anyway, I'll try to install it manually, as I can simply follow the setup.dat file. Edit: Nope. I can't... If I just copy BAF to the game's folder, I get a decryption error when launching the game. -.- HELP! Edited November 8, 2010 by MulleDK19
Dwarden 1125 Posted November 8, 2010 1. installed and updated both ARMA 2 and OA prior installing BAF? 2. enough free space on the target drive where game is and on temp drive where temp is? 3. ran it as admin 4. any obscure security software ?
MulleDK19 21 Posted November 8, 2010 (edited) 4. any obscure security software ? Great. Temporarily disabling my anti-virus fixed it. Thanks... :bounce3: Edit: But now I can only use BAF units xD If I try to use any other unit, I get this error: No entry 'bin\config.bin/CfgVoiceTypes/Male01.alternative'. TechnoTerrorist303 10 Posted November 9, 2010 I think you need to uninstall the whole thing and start again. Install Arma2, patch to 1.07. Install OA and patch to 1.54. Then install BAF.
Dwarden 1125 Posted November 13, 2010 (edited) yes but now it's 1. update ARMA 2 to 1.08 2. update ARMA 2: OA to 1.55 3. install BAF 1.00 4. update BAF to 1.01 incase of combination with ARMA 2: OA STEAM title, You must run once the A2:OA from STEAM first before installing non-STEAM BAF same apply with A2 on STEAM, again run once before installing non-STEAM OA or BAF after Edited November 13, 2010 by Dwarden
MulleDK19 21 Posted January 18, 2011 (edited) EDIT: Never mind! Apparently turning off my anti-virus and firewall wasn't enough. I had to switch my anti-virus to Game Mode too -.- I'm having this problem again. Disabling my anti-virus doesn't work. The BAFsetup.exe that is. ---------------------------Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library --------------------------- Runtime Error! demonized 20 Posted January 19, 2011 I cant say much about your c++ error, but this is how to proper install game: Uninstall all arma 2 related, custom mods can be left. Restart your PC. 1: install arma2, start game and enter any mission and save (this for reg keys) important. 2: install OA in same folder as Arma 2, a2.exe and oa.exe in same folder, run game once any mission save. 3: install any Full bought dlc you have, this will update parts of your game as well. 4: install patch 1.57 This works flawlessly for me, win 7 ultimate 64-bit, sprocket version a2, oa, full pmc, full baf. PS: always rightclick any setup file or sprocket downloader/install and run as admin, also when starting game do same.
-)rStrangelove 0 Posted January 19, 2011 I'd just uninstall all antivirus / firewall software, then reinstall ArmA2. When you got everything running you can reinstall antivirus.
