Inkompetent 0 Posted November 4, 2010 Tried the beta now and quit after 10 minutes trying it alone. Still too much like Faces of War. I.e. needing insaaaaaane amounts of micro and still having the bulky squad system (i.e. select X out of Y men in a squad and you make a new squad, making group-selecting with mouse impossible), making playing SC2 seeming relaxed and slow. Nah, absolutely nothing for me. CMSF and Theatre of War is where the money lies. Speaking about that. ALL Theatre of War titles (four of them) on Steam today for only €10. :D

Micromanaging like in the traditional RTS isn´t the best approach to this kind of game, obviously. In single player i usually tried to get the best out of each individual unit, did´nt do any objective w/o euqipping all units with the biggest & baddest weapons available, repairing enemy tanks when repair kits available, etc. - most of the time using direct control of course, with other available units covering me from various positions. There were some missions that required swift handling and rushed defenses, but overall the above 'tactic' worked fine for me through all of the four S:HoWW2 campaigns - great fun too doing it the *up close & personal way :D *(using a camera mod for being able to zoom in real close and removing the angle restrictions)
Inkompetent 0 Posted November 4, 2010 Well, in singleplayer I too find it manageable most of the time. In multiplayer people aren't nice and sit and wait for one to do the long and laborous tasks though, so it becomes a stress-fest without comparison :(

Too much a fan of sit your ass down and build up for a nice start, one huge dislike i found in the RUSE beta too.
