crescent01 10 Posted October 4, 2010 Hi all - new to this forum and to OA. Asked this question on the Armaholic forum but their server went down before I could digest the helpful responses I received over the weekend  :- I wish to create a simple mission in the editor and then use in conjunction with my neighbour (also newly converted to OA !!). I am trying to import to multiplayer so that we can both play on the same team. We have tried to follow the manual with regards on how to do this but are not having much luck so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated. crescent01
Devil Dogs SF 13 Posted October 4, 2010 Creat your mission, select the units you wish to play as as playable, don't make any player. Save and click export to multiplayer missions.

Gunter Severloh 4087 Posted October 5, 2010 Hello crescent01 For Making mp missions: 1.Go into multiplayer 2.create a server and name it whatever 3.pick a map you want your mission on 4.create your mission with whatever units, vehicles, ect., 5. Make sure one person is a player and the other is playable if you want more choosable roles to pick from then add more soldiers and make them playable. 6.respawn. you will need to respawn or by default when you die you will turn into a bird. heres what you do: -if your blufor, create a marker and name it respawn_west -if your Opfor name it respawn_east -if your independent then name it respawn_guerilla The maker will be the exact spot that you will respawn, unless you indicate it in your description .ext 7. Save your mission as a usermission the mission will create a folder in this location: C:\Documents and Settings\your name\My Documents\ArmA\MPMissions look for the title of your mission. 8. once you find the name of your mission which will be the title of your folder then you will need to create a description.ext file and put it into your mission folder. Refer to my old post for info modify dowloaded MP missions it has links to tools,a nd info you need for editing and working with mp mission files: http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=1658123&postcount=2 9. Create a description script: tool called Armaedit http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=1455 you will need that tool, once installed, start the tool and create a Description File ext name the file: description paste this code below into the file respawn = base; respawndelay = 5; respawndialog = 0; class header { gametype = coop; maxplayers = 3; minplayers = 1; What the codes mean: respawn = RespawnType;respawnDelay = DelayInSeconds; respawnVehicleDelay = DelayInSeconds; respawnDialog = 0; // Show the scoreboard and respawn countdown timer for a player if he is killed with respawnType 3. Default is 1 (true). RespawnType Description 0 or "NONE" No respawn 1 or "BIRD" Respawn as a seagull 2 or "INSTANT" Respawn just where you died. 3 or "BASE" Respawn in base. Requires a marker named: * respawn_west * respawn_east * respawn_guerrila * respawn_civilian Add markers named with the prefix 'respawn_west' with any suffix (eg: respawn_westABC, respawn_west1, respawn_west_2, etc) for multiple random respawn points. Similarly for east, guerrila and civilian. Vehicle respawn in base requires a marker named: * respawn_vehicle_west * respawn_vehicle_east * respawn_vehicle_guerrila * respawn_vehicle_civilian 4 or "GROUP" Respawn in your group (if there's no AI left, you'll become a seagull). 5 or "SIDE" Respawn into an AI unit on your side (if there's no AI left, you'll become a seagull) - implemented in ArmA 1.08: with this respawn type, team switch is also available to any AI controlled playable units. Hope that helps. any questions, or need help then please dont hesitate to ask, or even send a pm. its very easy once you do it, and once you have a description file create, you can use it in all your mp missions, just change the values as see fit. Kamakazi 11 Posted October 6, 2010 The Arma server is a demanding beast needs a lot of work to get the best out of it and i want to expand a bit on Gunters post above New editors can easily get lost in its technicality, there is no 1 reference to work from. Just want to offer a bump to this info - http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=107617 a lot of good links to wiki and others specific to MP missions. It will help a lot as your ambitions expand. Probably good to de-Pbo a few existing maps and find clues as to the structure and complexity possible. A lot of great detail is about in the forums good luck
