Can you make your own Text ?

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to make your own text list of instructions that I can select when playing in MP so i do not have to type it in all the time ?

i.e

Enemy spotted East

Enemy spotted north

etc..

Need pickup look for smoke

Find cover

etc..

My idea is hit command button and then scroll through the list ?

IS this possible

Thanks

Sure, you can do that using the Custom Sounds feature which will appear under 0-9-x

Create the folder: Documents\ArmA 2\Sound or Documents\ArmA 2 Other Profiles\ArmAName\Sound

Then create a "fake" OGG file (New -> Text Document, then rename it) there named what you want your message to say:

Enemy spotted East.ogg

Then in game when you press 0-9-1 it'll print out:

Enemy spotted East
and make a little radio beep sound.

You can play actual sound files this way too as long as they are under 52k in size (maybe 57k, not sure heh)

I guess you could record the radio beep and use that as your sound? It's basically instant though.

I want to point out that most public servers have a "0kb cusom file limit" meaning you cant use custom sounds and faces.

I dont know if an empty ogg file is allowed in that case tho, since they theoretically have no size.

well, it'll have a size, since it's a file, and it got a name.

It'll ususlay end up under the limit, unless it's set to 1 or 2 kb

Many thanks,

How would make a radio beep at the beginning ?

Thanks

paul

If you declare your radio file properly in the radio class inside the description.ext the radio beep sound is created automatically. No need to record that sound.

kind regards

Still most filesystems will report it as 0 bytes, since the filename ans its location is stored in a different place than the actual content I think ;)
