How many people playing Operation Arrowhead online?

Recommended Posts

As title says:

How many people are currently playing Operation Arrowhead online? I want to find this out before I buy the game. Multi-player is my forte, and so I want a steady community with a nice quantity of gamers with which to game online.

Thanks.

Right now for example there are 300 people online playing. I rarely seen more then this, guess around 500 is the top number at once.

if you buy this game for mp you must know that its not a "jump in and play game", unless you are in a clan.

still its allready worth buying it cause of the SP and editor only in my opinion;-)

Your enjoyment in MP depends on your patience and willingness to learn.

There are hundereds of servers, but most of them are only occupied in the (local) evening. So finding a server local to you is one thing, the other is to get in touch with ppl on the severs you like and see if you call it "home" there. Who knows there might be a squad that's recruiting on there ;)

Btw. there are a lot of different gametypes, and most times servers are dedicated to that type. You have to find out what you like.

friday night there's generally about 1700 players overall. However the community is very active, games like Modern Warfare 2 have hundreds of thousands of active players but they don't really do anything, just join - play game, leave. Not much point in playing with a human if you act like that.

Mh i never seen more then 500 online....

Some people just dont wanna play in clans, in this case arma2 is the worst case scenario. I never enjoyed a public game on a public server so far and i dont think you have to get friends with peoples if you play with them.

some "jump in and play" gamemodes definitly would cause the attraction of some peoples on this game.

I've never liked arma2's online - there are a handful of occasions where I found a great group doing coop and had a blast. Than there's the rest (99%) when no body talks, there' s a teamkiller, and everybody is doing their own thing.

It just takes too much time and effort for me to get into the online mode, thank god for zeus AI.

If you're looking to play without Teamspeak etc., with complete unknowns, it will get boring after a while.

What I did was I found a game mode I liked (warfare), joined a clan server, joined their teamspeak server, got to know them. Currently I'm not a member and I doubt I ever will be, but It's good to know that whenever after school I go to play arma online, there's few guys on teamspeak and later in the evening there's a whole bunch.

If it wasn't for the guys, their humor, the teamwork, I doubt I would be playing this game even though I enjoy the game itself.

When you look for the right servers and act in a mature way (most people I play with are between 20 and 40), there's no doubt you can have a blast playing this game. Doesn't really matter how many players are online at a given moment, it's the kind of players online that make or break the gaming experience! You might have to reserve a few specific evenings, but imo it's definately worth it.

Hi,

since I bought ArmA I still haven't played the single player campaigns, because I'm a multiplayer addicted.

The online community appears to be very alive at almost all hours of day and night.

Maybe the most difficult thing (to me for sure) is to be affiliate to some community that plays and do train at scheduled times, because the lack of time.

So I founded my stand alone squad...if could be called so an Army of one (pay attention, one not O.N.E.) :j: and I look almost always for death match games and sometimes for cooperative small scale operations.

I am satisfied by the number and variety of multiplayer games that can be found in the net.

Based on the mixed responses, it seems that the variety of servers and choices/options for multi-player is limited. Does multi-player become boring rather quickly? From what I understand, a lot of the gaming is coop centered. I despise all forms of single-player for the mere fact that you aren't really hunting humans.

Is there generally a lack of team-work on the servers? Does it take forever to reach the inevitable... a firefight? I am not a fan of walking for ages to finally see action.

It depends... I'm sure you can find a server that specifically aims for TvT matches, but I'm not so sure if you'll find true teamplay and tactics there. Considering you like to "hunt" human players, you might just fit in with that crowd.

Don't dismiss coop missions when playing with good players! The AI puts up a better fight than you might think, this is not your typical FPShooter. I don't think there is another game out there, that lets you use real tactics and teamwork on this scale!!

As a side note, most decent coop servers will play TvT games occasionally, but again, they will be objective oriented, so if you don't like the fact that you have to sit there for ten minutes untill the SL comes up with a plan, it might not be for you. Patience is a virtue....

It depends entirely on the mission (mission maker) but generally this game HAS to be played at a cautious pace as in real life. Rambo style play will get you killed very quickly.

As Antagoon said, the AI in this game are far more challenging than other games (usually)
