panzerkroete 10 Posted September 5, 2010 hello guys, i bought OA at gamestop. the problem is that i dont have a cd drive in my gaming-pc so i installed it via LAN from my laptop. i thought that i can choose between Online-activation and DVD authorization during the installation process, but i cant. is there any way to download an activation-tool so i can finally play it? or is there any (legal) download of OA with the option to choose the way of activation? thx alot Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Inkompetent 0 Posted September 5, 2010 (edited) Upon attempting to launch the game the first time you should be given the option to activate it online so that you don't have to use the DVD. At least that's what I did (505 Games release). That might however require a DVD in the computer, so unless you can do that via LAN as well I suggest getting a DVD ROM for your desktop. nettrucker 142 Posted September 5, 2010 Hi and welcome to the forum. The option to play OA without DVD in drive is not avalaible at the moment since the game is still to fresh. Normally BIS release after some time a patch where it's not necessary to have the DVD inserted in your drive, but I guess it'll still take some time. If you are using a Beta patch the DVD isn't needed, you can play without it, but it might be that you'll have trouble when playing online in multiplayer. Don't know how many servers run with betas, furthermore BIS is churning out constantly new ones. Get yourself a DVD drive they are not very expensive, otherwise download the latest beta patch and you can play at least in single player without problems. Go the beta patch section in the forum and download the last beta and install it. An OA beta exe will be created in your OA main folder from where you can launch it. If you have to remove the beta just eliminate it by right clicking on the beta exe.
